Yes recorded delivery. An odd product, but RM seems to charge alot for a product that doesn't seem to be handled much differently to normal mail?

You are quite right to cite the cost of Iraq and pension deficits. The cynic might argue that the £5bn helps secure friendlier oil reserves and is economically worth it? If it isn't then why the hell are we still spending millions per week on it? Enough of the political slant.

You may have a point about Allan and Adam. Whilst I think they've done a good job there is a reasonable argument to say their reputations amongst their own people is soiled. I'm not sure who would come in with true commercial understanding to take the company forward. I always thought Adam would be out of RM a while ago, but a close friend of his told me that he was in it for the long haul. For example I thought he might deliver the Olympics for example.

Leighton is on his way out and that's no secret, but again no-one is interested in taking over!

I'd like to see some reconciliation and focus on times ahead. The company was actually recovering until recently, but the pension deficit and this crippling loan they have taken on is forcing their hand. It's almost like watching a third world country take on an IMF/World Bank loan and then realise all the strings attached. Free market etc... and then foregin companies come in and take large contracts!

The way forward for me is to recognise serious job reductions, but higher wages for those remaining, complete overhaul of the processing network. Where mail centres are located and their processing capacity/capability. I would also like to see a major upgrade of IT tracking systems and this is what customers want. They want real time info on their campaigns as they fall to earth. This is how it works on the internet, by TV for example. To do this requires everyone pulling in the same direction, major investment, and returns only to be expected in 5-10 yrs. Currently RM has a poor history of infrastructure change and IT upgrades.

I hope I did a decent role previously and only time will tell, but there are reasons why I rejected the offer of a new contract!

I think you saw the writing on the wall and took the right decision for you. Me I am over 40 have only had 2 previous jobs and joined Royal Mail with a view to staying in till I retire. I am getting less and less sure day by day that this possible.

(And on his money why should he go?)

(Bloody good JOB)

(Agree, everyone pulling in the same direction!!! That means treating your `Workforce` with a modicum of RESPECT and that means Listening.)

I hope I did a decent role previously and only time will tell, but there are reasons why I rejected the offer of a new contract!
