Let's waste some more money!!!!!

Post by NEWS »

Every post office in Britain is to be issued with a new printer, despite the fact that 2,500 outlets are expected to close later this year.A memo sent to all branches said installing the new and improved Epson counter printers will start next month.

The multi-million pound investment has provoked confusion among county postal workers who contacted the Shropshire Star after receiving the directive.

Wow

Amazing how the press can distort things !

Installing the new printers will actually save money as the old ones are past their useful life and cannot cope with the job anymore, requiring frequent swap-outs.

Also the new ones are ink-jet and can allow the PO to offer more services to their clients (such as barcode printing and logos etc)

They also use cheaper and easier to obtain consumables.

Thanks for that, from the man in the know.
But why every PO like the article says, what are they gonna do with the 2500 that are from the closed ones.
In all fairness it does sound a bit crazy.

You are assuming that 2,500 branches are going to close and that the printers will in some way become redundant. That is not how it works with the current 'spares loop' process.

There are enough counter positions to easily use any spares (as save further replacement costs in the future).

Ok fair do's you're the man in the know.
Unlike below,or is that one of them,a source said,'The Sun' stylee.
I'm guessing the PO press dude needs to get his finger out.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “I do not know what the rationale is behind these new printers but you cannot stop development and this shows we are committed to investment.

Good to have your input btw, even if there isn't a lot of the PO stuff,i'd love to Flyer the offices like i do ours but it's hard enough doing them.
Cheers.
