Big plans to fight Bolton postal privatisation

A GIANT post box and postcard will be in Bolton town centre tomorrow in a protest against the Government’s plan to part privatise Royal Mail.

The large models will be accompanied by postal workers, who will hand out leaflets and gather signatures for a petition.

The protest is being organised by the Communication Workers Union, which represents postal staff.

North West secretary Carl Webb said: “Such a move would, we believe, risk fracturing one of Britain’s greatest public services and put our universal service under threat.”

The giant post box will be in Victoria Square as part of a week-long tour of towns and cities in the North West.

No dates yet but this page on the CWU site is the best one to keep an eye on. http://www.keepthepostpublic.org/events.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I know they started at "John O Groats" and will finish at Lands End so I am guessing that the "South" (as in London Area) will about the same time as the 2nd Reading in the House of Commons which is mid June.

This has a list of some sorts.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
