To Borrow and arguement from a blog pasted else where:

Our Customer will be let down, but who are our customers? Our friends, our families, our service providers. Employers and service providers to our friends and families, oh and ourselves. Rememeber we are all customers of Royal Mail. <- or would you prefer to be customers of TNT? maybe even work for TNT. I hear they pay less than Royal Mail. We could all go and work for TNT and strike for better pay deals with them?.

What’s the outcome? Think about it, it’s not rocket science, more business lost for the company (because who wants to use an unreliable, expensive company with employees who have a history of going out on strike when they don’t get their own way – spoilt brat syndrome?). This leads to smaller profit margins, meaning less money for investment to allow the company to compete, less money to reward employees and job loses. Well job loses, they will definitely come now, in there 1000's probably.

Basically, what is on the table is a bloody good offer, especially under the financial circumstances of the company. I support the stance of Royal Mail; I happily accept the terms and conditions of the deal. 2.5% and the strings. Well it pays my mortgage and puts food on the table. I'd have to work much longer hours in less pleasant working conditions to achieve the same level of security with another employer. I've certainly had to work harder, for longer, in foul working conditions for much less money. I really don't want to go back to that, but this strike brings that nightmare much closer to reality!!!

Who the Hell are these people to say our wages are a "reward"? They're not a reward, they are ours by right because we have EARNED them. To our wage a "reward" shows a level of arrogance and ignorance which shows the writer as the tool of the boss class. Of course if we got all we earned, we would quadruple the £324 we get. Whoever wrote this is obviously very happy to live under a system which closes hospitals and schools, where thousands are homeless and parasites like Crozier and Leighton pocket millions of pounds they've never earned or deserved in any way.

Try working long shifts, for minimum wage, sloggin your guts out in smelly, dirty factories or stack shelves for a living at Morrisons. I earn more than anybody I know outside Royal Mail who isn't a manager and many of those people I earn more than work much harder, in much less favourable conditions than most of the Royal Mail workers I know.

You talk about being brain washed. See how brain washed I am when your working in less than favourable working conditions, for less pay, for longer hours, with less beneifts. Oooo hang on... that will never happen because being greedy and striking for a better deal will improve your job security won't it? It will get you your pay rise won't it? If the company don't streamline, where all out of a job. And NO i'm not a manager and I'm happy with my pay and bonus terms & conditions. If I want manager pay and manager bonus then I'd being making every effort to climb that ladder and get that pay. Like many people I talk to who are not in the CWU and even a good few who are in the CWU, I am happy with what i've got. I get paid enough for the work I do, and I work hard.

And 11 years since the last strike? 11 years since the last complete walkout, but how many strike have individual offices had over the last 11 years... and/or threatened strikes. I reckon pretty much every year at least once office has gone on strike since 1996! That always makes the news and always damages customer relations. Get real! The management won't budge on this. The scare mungering about 40,000 job cuts. This strike action will certainly make that a more realistic probability and sooner rather than later.

2.5% with the strings is a GOOD offer. If you don't like it go find a better paid job with better working conditions with another company and leave those of us who are happy with the deal alone to try and secure our futures with a copany we like working for!!!
