A charm offensive by Peter Mandelson to persuade Labour MPs to back his Post Office sell-off has backfired.
Backbenchers say meetings in the South West and in Yorkshire were ruined because the Business Secretary arrogantly refused to listen and insisted he was right.
Cabinet minister Lord Mandelson refused to look at sceptics when they questioned his part-privatisation plans, checking his phone instead.
Stroud MP David Drew said: "It was more or less 'I'm not going to listen to you, you'll listen to what I say and you will be convinced of the rightness of my policy.' I don't think people were persuaded - I wouldn't vote for it if hell freezes over."
More than 140 MPs have signed a rebel Commons motion opposing the partprivatisation of Royal Mail.

Mandelson fails to win over Labour Royal Mail rebels
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I heard a very interesting story emanating from a famous seaside town MP after a CLP meeting . Mandy had MP's in groups of five . The Spiel was that it was necessary to safeguard the Pension , nobody was bothered bar the Unions .brothermagrew wrote:"All the attributes to be a success"bexhil palace wrote:What an arrogant tw.t, He should become a RM manager, he has all the attributes to be a success. :mfo

So the MP laid into Mandy , he said " Peter , you haven't been a constituency MP for a long time and you're out of touch , Mandy's eyebrows started to narrow ; he carried on " If you came to my constituency , they'd tear you apart " - RMG have arguably indirectly killed off one pensioner in the WH Smith's PO franchisee there , the ultra defensive robotic stock RMG statement was very ill advised too , to say the least
I believe :mfo 's friend Dolly Draper - yes he might have one or two - it is possible
Hellmail have tried the black propaganda and smear tricks a few times as well - best one was to counter anything on message boards about the Bristol 3 with " quoted statements of guilt " - it's " amazing " how they were rewritten and toned down
