I got a letter from my conservative MP today. The standard tory rejection letter.
Just spilt stain-remover down my shirt. Now how do I get that out?

Northern Ireland has 18 MPs and of that 11 have signed the EDM, 5 (Sinn Féin) do not take their seats in Parliment so therefore cannot sign it which leave only 2 who haven't signed it (Ian Paisley and Sammy Wilson) so anybody who is in either of their constituencies should e-mail them asking them to sign and then we'll have a full set from NI.

Qiute right too. Just for the record, I contacted Graham Brady, MP for Sale West and Altrincham over here in England and got a shitty reply. Hope any of you lot out there who come under his constituency do likewise and ignore the prat when he needs the votes.

I got a reply today which says:

...The Royal Mail, as the Hooper Report points out, represents a tremendously difficult and
different problem. as the most significant competitor to the Royal Mail is the increased use
of electronic communications such as email and text messaging, it is absolutely vital that
Royal Mail develops the use of modern teqhniques in order to continue to meet its universal
service obligations.

In order to ensure that the Royal Mail is capable of maintaining a meaningful role within the
market place, it is Liberal Democrat policy to raise an estimated £2 billion through the sale of
49% of the Royal Mail, which will be directly invested in the modernisation of the Post Office.
This will not only ensure that the Government retains overall control of the group, but that the
service is financially able to compete as a modern viable service. Further to this, we would
direct at least one-quarter of the Royal Mail shares into an employee-owned trust. This will
create a model similar to that which employees of John Lewis currently enjoy, as Royal Mail
workers will become partners in the group, receiving a share of the company's profits.

You have asked me to sign EDM 428: Royal Mail. I am afraid that I am unable to sign this
motion as I feel that it completely fails to recognise either the core problems within Royal Mail
or the need for a solution to provide a publicly owned Post Office. Instead I feel that the motion
is far too concerned with championing Labour Party conferenve rhetoric, rather than provide
effective measures to tackle this issue.

Seems I'll have to vote for the Green Party then. :mfo

Cant go wrong with them, they may not be a big player but they have a wide range of excellent policies. People in this country are too hung up on the big 3 despite a wide range of smaller parties. Bizzare!!!

Unlike Labour when the greens say they are against the sell off you know thats the policy of those at the top and all the way through, no hidden nasty surprises like you get from a Labour government!.
