USA - Man sentenced to 13 years for assaulting postal worker

A 19-year-old Glendale resident was sentenced to 13 years in prison for assaulting a postal employee in August 2007.

The victim was making a routine delivery trip in a USPS vehicle when she made a stop on 36th Avenue in Phoenix, according to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney's Office.

She was then approached by Hasham Wael Shawky as he flashed a knife and ordered her to "get out of the vehicle." She obliged, and Shawky took the vehicle and fled.

Shawky was later found by Phoenix police officers and arrested.

He pleaded guilty to assault of a postal employee in September 2008.

The victim was not injured.

Yes Federal Law is paramount, damaging a Mail box in the US is also a Federal offence, you will into a Fedral penititary for a long time, which is why you don't see many damaged boxes in the streets which is some distances from their houses.

no the guy, kept getting in trouble. 3 days before he did this, he broke into my apartment through the glass door(in the process of which he cut him self up and was bleeding) got blood all over my apartment (at 2 am) came into my bedroom, where my 3 month old daughter and myself were sleeping, and was saying he was going to kill me and what not. it was untill a sound outside of my window scared him off and he ran away. Before this, he had beaten me up several times. Why? Because he was my ex and was upset that I didnt want to be with him any longer because he was so violent. He was also already on probation when all of this occured. I dread the day that he gets out of prison!!!!!!

Maybe so, but their wheels of justice clearly take a while to turn.
The unfortunate postie was assaulted back in August 2007.
