I seem to remember an article in the Courier just a few weeks ago saying how happy Amazon was with the service provided by Royal Mail. Lieghton & Crazier are just using this to blame us for not accepting 'modernisation' - ie returning to Dickensian conditions, pay cuts and servility.

Every year when potter books have had their first release usualy on a saturday 99.9% got to their destination on time so automation should not have anything to do with this, if the public realised that competition in the mail has got nothing to do with their benefit but all to do with companies coming in and creaming off the best bits for quick proffit, thats the message the CWU should be getting out there...UNITY IS STRENGTH.

The Harry Potter books...were they 2nd class? If not, looks like we'll still be carrying them.

Amazon's first class deliveries will continue to be made by the Royal Mail.
Royal Mail book deal lost

ROYAL Mail has lost a "significant" contract worth £8 million a year to deliver second-class post for online retailer Amazon - but will retain its first-class contract.

It is the latest in a series of deals Royal Mail has lost to private delivery firms.

A Royal Mail spokesman said the organisation's "failure to fully modernise our operations" was costing it business.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

most amazon comes 1st anyway doesn't it? £8M is loose change compared to the rest of the contract. Now the orange one is blaming us for not modernising. Leighton the listener still fails to listen. we know the business needs to change but in a pragmatic way.

It's high time Royal Mail said no to the final mile rule. So what if postcom fines us. Who cares?

It would finally draw the publics attention to the real reason why Royal Mail is going tits up.

POSTMAN BLAMED FOR FLOODS

Post by mdtomuk »

today it has been reported that the extensive flooding in the East of England was caused by a Postman, he was half-way through a 5 hour delivery and needed a pee, he chose to urinate behind a hedge somewhere in Kent. The fall-out is there for us all to see. . . . . . . . .
