Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

If i see he has written it I dismiss it entirely - he comes across as a free marketeer, far to the right of Mandelson if thats possible.

"No one wants to see postal workers breaking their backs for threepence a week or wholesale job losses, but this is an industry in decline. The union surely don't expect everyone else to pick up the cost of a state-owned business that still sorts by hand, doesn't want new equipment and new mail centres because it means jobs will go, is being lost to technology, and puts on lead boots as a counter-measure to competition."

Why does he think it's aright for us to pay the nurses, army, mps and every other public service, a pension and wages, and of course all these public services are the best in the world - NOT.
Even though we postmen are a PUBLIC service , we pay taxes and pay for our pensions, and should be entitled to the same benefits, as other public services.

Of course when everyone is paying a quid per letter, lets all see how happy everyone is then!!

"Royal Mail is already bankrupt. It can't meet its pension obligations. Jane Newell, chairman of the Royal Mail pension trustees gave a stark warning today:
"At present, in winding-up the Plan would not even be able to provide as much as 50 per cent of members' benefits."

Of course when the shares go up, as the government keep telling us, then our pension hole will go down, of course I expect we'll take another pension holiday.

Also wanted to say, how many days were lost in 2008, to postmen being on strike, or for that matter the years before our strike, when you have a proper dispute, then loads of days are going to be lost, thats what strikes are about.

It's dog whistle stuff TBT , I believe they used it in Australia and the Tories with Michael Howard copied it in the 2005 General Election , you'd open The Sun and they'd have you believe there was a Gypsy Camp on every block in every town in the country .

he's just lazily regurgitated his old " articles " i.e . all this cliched bo***cks about stroking cats and people being stuck in the 50 's . He's surpassed himself in another of his masterpieces on Feb 10th or 13th re . that leak to the Mirror , he objected to rabble rousing and making trouble for RM in the tabloids .

Try arranging the following in order , Mark - Kettle , Pot & Black , it's pseudo journalism , an attempt at a style of say : Littlejohn when he was with The Sun or Garry Bushell , the female rent a gob versions are all over the papers , people like Carole Malone & Vanessa Feltz who get collectively lampooned as " Glenda Slagg " in Private Eye , they're not articles , they're just rants to try and impose their petty prejudices on people .

The problem is other people borrow their soapboxes like RM Managers  , thinking they're being clever .

He sounds like some 80's has been , Pub bore who has had too many G&T's in the Con Club or Golf Club in the back of beyond ?

Bah humbug to Mr White.

Royal Mail is already bankrupt. It can't meet its pension obligations. Jane Newell, chairman of the Royal Mail pension trustees gave a stark warning today:
"At present, in winding-up the Plan would not even be able to provide as much as 50 per cent of members' benefits."

Look at that phrase and sear it into your knapper, when Royal Mail tell you that we need 'partnership to save the pension'
then quote them this
A major reason for any deficit is the contribution holidays taken under the Tories in the past by the Post Office when it was very clearly a public sector organisation. The scheme itself has been radically changed to make it much cheaper but there are rather daft accounting rules for such long term public sector schemes which base liability deficits on the barmy assumption on what would happen if everyone retired or died - tomorrow. The oft quoted £8-9 billion “deficit” is just a nonsensical and meaningless calculation.

Hat tip to John of http://grayee.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So we all agree that there are problems in the pensions, but nothing like 8-9 billion,we are being spoonfed a bucket of cack in order for the industry to be privatised.
Remember
daft accounting rules for such long term public sector schemes which base liability deficits on the barmy assumption on what would happen if everyone retired or died - tomorrow.
The more you know, the worse it gets.

Obviously Marky hadn't heard about Sir Freds pension before he wrote that article.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

What's wrong with Dinosaurs? They ruled the Earth for over 160 million years.
And Royal Mail has survived for over 350 years, it's only the 'improvements' brought
in over the last few years under New Labour that have caused the current problems.

Well, that and the internet, and mobile phones. Don't recall many dinosaurs using text messaging. Biggest problem now is extinction rather than whether we're dinosaurs or not.

I think if Dinosaurs had DSA then they wouldn't of lasted 160 million years
