thats right they know they are only in this for the short haul and if there cv says they made millions for royal mail when the next mega money job comes along they know it'll improve their chances. what have they done for royal mail to make it better, us posties have more walking and more bags than ever and everyone gets there mail late, so the workers have lost and the customers have lost . When Leighton wrote that crap in the sun newspaper, it should have gone like this, we need to modernize that means less money and more leaflets for posties to carry and everyone will get there mail even later than they do now, and if you don't like it - TOUGH, the posties have got to realize we have got it tough as well with all the things we've been able to buy with our huge salaries we are more likely to have our houses robbed and with no pay rise for us crozier might not be able to keep his all year tan, he'll only be able to afford only five or six trips to the carribean this year.

It realy annoys me that the general public and media are saying this action is only about money.....
Well I certainly believe its conditions and the imminent downfall of a great British institution .... Royal Mail.
Has anyone realy told the public what to expect from RM when Leighton and Crozier get their own way.
Leighton said "this is not a popularity contest" no it isn't but I wish it was a vote of confidence and a vote of no confidence would force Laurel and Hardy to resign.

leighton is trying is trying to make out to the public we are greedy money grabbers who hardly do anything, what sort of a boss does this to his workforce. When i finish work i'm totally knackered can crozier and leighton say the same ?

Its realy interesting to read all the comments, there is a forum on "MY SPACE" called the postmans forum which has got some interesting arguments on the go. Its amazing to hear how RM are sneaking in changes all over the country without letting the union and other offices know.
We have also got a "My Space" for fed up postpeople . If anyone is interested I'll post the URL's.

Do the job right and more hours would have to be invested in deliveries instead of Royal Mail looking for efficency savings :lfo

OK this is it chaps we're going over the top into the jaws of the enemy machine guns, keep looking ahead and walk shoulder to shoulder with your colleagues.... OK what I am trying to say is the strike is on for next Friday. I hope that we can stand together because we all know that this is going to be make or break for all of us as well as the business. We must believe that what we are fighting for is the success of our industry because we all know that Leighton and Crozier are only going to destroy Royal Mail.
We must also be sure that we get this message across to POSTCOM because unless we start competing on level terms we're banging our heads against a brick wall. It is clear to all posties that TNT et al will cherry pick what they want to deliver. Uniform letters and densely populated delivery areas, business park and trading estates. Cities will have all and sundry competing for business while the rural less profitable areas will be serviced by the part time and much more loss making Royal Mail. I believe that the likes of Business Post etc. will dish the non profit making business to RM and I am just as sure that POSTCOM will over see the insulting feeding of scraps to us and no doubt telling RM what they can charge in order to make even harder to make the business work.
We are saying this not because we want to see the downfall of RM or because we are militant but because we want to see RM as a successful modern business paying its workers a decent wage for a decent amount of hours.

Thanks to all the Postpeople that are striking today.
Lots of people think that this strike is a laugh, just for the money or for any amount of other reasons but it really is an effort to save RM and to stop the erosion of our conditions.
We know of one office that had just one postman out on strike, fair enough it is only a smallish office with about 40 staff but how brave is that to be the only person that is willing to stand up and be counted. Incidently during chats in the tea room virtually all those in the office said they had voted in favour of industrial action. I sincerely hope that when this action is over (and won) that man is treated as a hero, he should never need buy a drink again.
Again thanks to all that have stood up to be counted, we appreciate it.
