given up on shoes/boots, good alternatives??

Having spent last 24 years wearing RM official shoes and boots I have decieded life is too short and want to look at
alternatives...see on cotton traders they have some Casual Waterproof Shoes

anyone have any experiance of these? worth investing in? non slippy? easy/confortable to wear etc?

or any others reasonably priced you can recommend?

Thanks for that...do like dr martins, and did wear them when issued, but they take ages to break in,once broken in they
are very comfortable but an not prepared to wait...I need a black,lightweight,waterproof-ish comfortable shoe that doesn't take
long to break in...best ones I had in last 24 years were the Clarks...as for

our office, you seem to be ok as long as they are black and "look" like the official shoe/boot

brothermagrew is your man for the relevent details on that but your DOM is just trying to save himself some money by not having to pay for your new footware.

How on earth can he say this--point out to him the shoes supplied by royal mail are not fit for the job, and if your doctor says you cannot wear them, don't.

Yes, you do get an allowance-paid from petty cash--although I am still waiting for my last lot!!!!

I have just bought some boots from an e bay shop. They are called "Grafters" and they are steel toe capped but not too heavy on the old feet when it comes to covering the miles we do. They were £11.99 plus p+p, excellent value for money seeing as they usually retail for 30 plus quid. Got totally sick of RM issue crap, my feet were knackered from wearing them and they lasted about 2 months before developing holes and losing all the tread. Apalling. V. pleased with these though, recommended.

my feet come first. The cats kill my feet and the new trainer no good either really kill my feet. Some very good trainer/walking shoe in sports direct atm called gelert Royalmail should have invested in this walking shoe it's waterproof too and has a much better sole and my feet feel comfy in them

You need to get in touch with OH,tell them that you've been to your doctor with bad feet and he has given you a note advising that you wear your own footwear,OH should then email your DOM and you should be fine,did your doctor refer you to the podiatrist at your local hospital?,this is what happened to me,I now get my own footwear from Amazon (karrimor) hand the receipt to my DOM and within a couple of weeks I get my money back,no drama's,when they are nearly worn down,show your DOM and get another pair whenever they are worn down,I have had more than 2 pairs a year.
