Re: ROYAL MAIL CAMPAIGN
How do i find the list of all MP's e-mails,save me searching them one by one?Is that posible?
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: ROYAL MAIL CAMPAIGN
Why don't the CWU take adverts out in the newspapers. Lets face it this isn't about money this is about the future of The Royal Mail, privatisation doesn't work it hasn't in the past and won't in the future. Due to pressure put on us by RM top brass to make the profit we currently do most members of the public have seen the service we provide drop. It's time we tell them that if privatised they'll be lucky if they get their mail by 8pm at night. We need to let the general public know that whilst they might still get thier mail 6 days a week if we are privatised service will be cut to provide shareholders the profit they'll need for dividends. Get alternatives and explain the danger of privatisation

Re: ROYAL MAIL CAMPAIGN
I have a better idea use the door to door as a means of getting the message across too the public we get paid and we can be sure 99.999999% get too read it!. But the real problem is communication with it's own member's and as such we will always be out done by the slick management presentation's and their fool's gold which they offer!.ar26 wrote:Why don't the CWU take adverts out in the newspapers. That's exactly what they are doing, with the Postcard campaign, isn't it?k979aaa wrote:I have a better idea use the door to door as a means of getting the message across too the public we get paid and we can be sure 99.999999% get too read it!. But what worries me, is that it's not just fellow Posties, who fall for the RM spin. The Public often fall for it too. That's why I think that it would be better to pick a "Champion", to take on the Government in a televised debate. That way, people would be able to see their body language, and hear the inflections in their voices. So they would be harder to fool, with spin.

I've heard if you drop them a sub, quite a few Labour Peers are willing to act on your behalf.
Why aren't the CWU doing that?

Although he did not say it i presume he just wants the cash to go to the private firm and to him and his chums in the city. Still not suprised as he is a tory.![]()

There's the rub. Being a Tory he will be in favour of privatisation and so the EDM will have little impact as the lib dems have a mind to sell off as well.

Dvbuk makes a good point we have just over 100 mp's out of over 600 signed up to the EDM. Its gonna be tricky to defeat mandy on MP votes alone. Need to change Mandy's policy.

Prescott on 'The Politics Show'
Did anyone hear Prezza (John Prescott) this morning on The Politics Show, BBC1?
He refused to confirm/deny support for Mandelson but on the other hand he said he was not against private money going into pulbic services. An example he used was NATS which was part-privatised by Labour (49%) in 2001...
So not quite sure what camp he's supporting, although he did say he wanted to see a publicly-owned RM. But havn't all the Labour Minsiters trotted out this line and continue to say that RM will be in the public sector, by definition it will not remain in the public sector if any sort of stake is sold!

Re: ROYAL MAIL CAMPAIGN
Big Daz we currently have 103 mps who have signed the early day motion which has only been available for MPs to sign for two weeks. Any mp will tell you that is a significant number.
The strategy is that at present there are only approx Labour MPs who can sign the early day motion ,as minsters or pps can not sign. We also understand that there are two cabinet minsters who have voiced their disant. The fact is that the message to the Labour back benches only 2 weeks ago from the Government was we want the Labour party to be united in this parliment. However less then two weeks into this parliment over 100 mps have signed a motion which will be worrying to Brown and if that grows in numbers then it will make him rethink.
With regards to the Tories at present they have said they will go with the Governement but they may change their mind if their is a labour back bench revolt.
However the way mandleson has indicated to the cwu is that the postal services act allows for a joint venture without legislation. The only parts which needs legislation is the pension deficit and the change to Off com.
This union can defeat the joint venture if everyone does the work as we did both in 2004 and 1994.
