Retired early,sold house,moved up north !

Post by Goosnargh ex postie »

At last I've found a web site getting feed back from the real workers...
I was lucky to sell my house last July, took the money and moved to Goosnargh, a small village near Preston, just before the credit crunch.
After 10 years working at Esher delivery office, I got to the stage where the job was getting silly.
Having to stand around, before being allowed out on my bike to deliver the post after 9.30 am.
Before, when I first started, I enjoyed the job when it was you got the job done, and finished, no matter how early.

After selling my house, to a person who worked for the bank, and on the day of exchanging contracts, the buyer tried to reduce our house price by £22,500 .
You can guess what our reply was ! However, we ended up agreeing a drop of £5,000. I often wonder if he's still in a job ? :pray

So with, wife, two adopted children, three foster kids (aged 5,10 & 11), we left sunny Surrey to live in Lancashire. Cold, very wet and windy.
And I wish I had done it sooner. :dance
Friendly neighbours , cheaper beer, 17 in a class at the school, good food, and wonderful countryside.

Being a true Arsenal fan, I can get tickets to most grounds in the North West , as less fans seem to travel far.
So I'm known as The Goosnargh Gooner , and I still pop down to some home fixtures.

I dont miss the job, but I do miss the chat during throwing off the mail.
But I have put on an extra stone in weight now, so my bike may not take my weight any longer !
