Are your walks 3-1/2 hours after the SDD?

Post by POSTMAN »

Then if they are why are you/others negotiating job cuts to make them longer when the National Agreement says it's 3-1/2 hours.
No walks should be longer than that, period, regardless of what your Managers are telling you.

This is what i don't understand about all this.

In our office the times vary, some are as little as 2.5 some are 3.45 ,this is because indoor work can differ when it comes to prep.My walk for example is about 2.5 average some days it can be 3.0 but it is very heavy (90% victorian houses with 3 flats in each)at the moment i have 70 redirections and on average take out 10-15 specials + r/ds most days + plenty of packets.Compare that to an estate walk which is much lighter , so we give them a bit more delivery to balance out the workload. We do have 2 walks that stay of i.p.s. wed, thurs, friday as they are long and heavy ,trouble is you dont know how these walks will be when planning(traffic etc).

Apparently geo-route is worked out at 89% capacity. However, we have been told that this does not take into account walking back to safe drops and boxes.

I must admit I am confused that the Union in my area seem to have accepted geo-route with all its problems and job losses, but seem to want to dig in their heels about later starts without canvassing the members.

I would vote against a later start but I know some who would accept it even if they loose the allowance

I've heard this which is bollox,it seems if you have'nt got a letter in you hand it's not part of the 3 1/2 hrs, yeah right!!
If it takes me 10 mins to walk to and from a pouch box then tough. :mad
