I remember reading last year that Royal mail sold thousands of items lost in the post on Ebay.
Anyone know if they still do this? What do you all think?
Personally if i was to have a package delivered to my door by mistake and i sold it, then it is classed as theft - it is not my property. Surely RM should have the same law applied to them or atleast offer the money tio charity...

Are lost items still sold on Ebay?
Welcome Trippers - there was one story about bagpipes being sold but whether this is official policy or not I and I doubt anyone on here will know for sure as most of us on here work at the coal face not at HQ. However, I don't see a large organisation doing something potentially illegal without getting it checked out in the first place. It may come under recuperation of costs or some other legal mumbo jumbo
Link to story on Bagpipes http://grumpy.blog.co.uk/2007/06/18/roy ... he~2472297 it does mention that money is kept to cover costs but that some is also given to charity.

More likely is RM auction it in auction houses in bulk lots, similar to bumblebee the police one for unclaimed items.

and there is no forwarding or return address, or items where the
address is non-existent or unreadable, and again there is no
return address.

all undeliverable items are delt with in belfast and are checked for a return address if no return address any items under £30 are sold right there {they use argos books to gage price}anything over £30 is held for 6 months then sold all items are picked up by lorry and sold in england by some private sorce that royal mail gave the contract to
