F*****g awful. Just found out that I'm being displaced in the revision and we're not having a resign. Gonna be a floater. 30 years and treated like a new entrant.

Doesn't there have to be a resign according to the CWU agreement?

It's not all bad being a float. There's a reduced expectation when you don't have a walk. D2ds not done, stuff brought back, 10 days mail under the frame. All things that duty holder may get pulled up for and a reserve won't.

To all readers, make sure with the varying lengths of shifts that you are not owed hours due to not having the correct days off. For example if you get more shorter days off you'll be owed time. A rotational day off usually fixes this if the management can do maths.

Who is going to force that to happen? In my office the manager couldn't care less about a resign, and the union rep has minimal seniority and would lose her walk if we had one.

Glad I never made a big deal out of saying goodbye to my customers only to come back five days later with five days stuff in hand. I'd consider myself stuck in a timeloop only it's a different walk every time this happens

Came into work. About 20 people were tripping over each other in the parcel sorting area. Most people had no clue which parcels went to which walks so most were guessing. Therefore, the missorts were unbelievable. I was expected to take over 150 parcels for 2 walks that are spread out over a large area. Saturday traffic cost me a lot of time, so did buzzing to get into the high number of flats on these two newly created walks.. No first class mail went out, didnt even get sorted. Many people came back with tracked parcels as they ran out of time to deliver them. Loads of tracked just sat in the office as no one to take them. Saturday...shortest work time of the week but busiest day for workload!!!

Yep, same. With reduced attendance on Saturdays there aren't as many FT on main packet sorting which requires PT to be called up when they come in. Most post-strikes PT have been on the same duty since they started so they don't know where anything is. Walks have been reinstated and streets have been moved off one duty to another, pairings have been split and joined with different neighbouring walks, and so on; thus FT don't much know where anything is either. Can't consult the sorting guide because it hasn't been updated.

I pitched the idea of sorting by the first digit of the inward postcode (that's what it was invented for!) and then doing secondary sorting to individual walks but they're wedded to the giant bullring concept. Admittedly a major stumbling block with my idea was the geographic mess that arose from bolting on bits of lapsing to frames.

Yep same here, a s**t idea amongst a whole ocean of s**t ideas, why not revise the office so everything is actually joined up, oh yeah sorry that would have involved a spot of planning so much easier to bodge it instead.

Same here, covered two walks, 170 tracked, specials, collections and only 3.30 hours to do it! ended up with two vans coming out to help me finish it off, Saturday's are to stressful, mind you come two weeks when we transfer to DM26 all will be easy and achievable, errr yeah, as if, and we will have the extra hour on Saturdays to look forward to!

We are now in week 5 of DM26 in my office. On Saturdays the non drivers were supposed to stay in the office but that lasted only a week. Now they're going out helping their driver as the drivers were struggling to complete.

Lots of mail trays under each frame no-one has had time to throw off due to the huge number of parcels.

At least everyone, except me and another colleague, can enjoy a 5 day long weekend every 3 weeks.

Wonderful day today. Fittingly, it's ten years and a day since my last great Tuesday when I dropped my last letter at 1039. Walked back to the unit to ditch my PDA and almost slipped out unnoticed until my manager stepped out of the toilets. He did a double take but ultimately said nothing. Then I got what was left of the hot food in the canteen at a hefty discount at 11AM

That's twenty minutes earlier than I started my duty today and there hasn't been a canteen in eight years, but I'll take what little pleasure I can find in these terrible times.

I've heard people talking about those glory days back when posties finished mega early but got paid until some time later in the day.... sounds great for workers back then, but also sounds like tax payer money was being thrown down the drain.

How was it thrown down the drain? You did your job and went home. Nothing was getting thrown down the drain.

Getting paid to sit at home for two hours is throwing tax payers money down the drain. It's no wonder posties want RM to be nationalised again
