DM26 Resign

It seems there is a plan to get rid of legacy contracts ,giving the easy walks to new starters and bigger heavier walks to the older ones who are breaking down on delivery and trying (hoping )they quit so less VRs next year. would a union officer please come on here and tell me that is not what is happening but if it is what are they doing about it.

They’ve made no secret of the fact that they’re want rid of legacy and want everyone on a new contract.

They don’t want to pay any VR so are not replacing staff at the same rate as they are leaving. It’s best to imagine that no one will get VR.

If new starters are managing to get walk picks that are ‘easy’ that will be short lived because everyone will be doing DM26.

That's never been suggested by senior management nor the CWU, even if it maybe happening? I doubt it's as easy as just wanting rid of legacy staff, more like wanting rid of legacy staff who don't already give 110%.

The introduction of the new contract in 2022 was a great big neon sign that they want rid of the legacy contract/staff.
They want staff who work Sundays and they want drivers.

The spanner in that is that new starters don’t stay. The turnover rate is huge.

Between 2013 and 2015 there were 60,000 duties. Obviously plenty have been ripped out since and some of that number were probably not 'core' duties (hybrids, etc). For talking's sake, 10,500 50/50 duties is maybe a fifth nationally. Office to office that'll vary based on geography. In ours they're only 10% of duties - some very senior people are quite belatedly finding out about the joys of Park & Loop.

Giving money to the CWU is the same as throwing it down a drain. They're an unscrupulous lot, like their management counterparts for which they're in cahoots with.

So you must be in a tiny office with staff who have never left? Surely there must have been repicks since the last century?

If the union hadn't got involved then RM would have enforced ODM on DO's? RM has always seemed a strange set up with CWU Reps meeting weekly with managers to resolve issues, does this happen in other companies with union reps?

I would say no. Direct union involvement in every office (if they have a rep) of a company is thing of the past for most industries.
One of the last proper unionised workforces along with the trains.
