Re: DM26 Resign
Why does the CWU need to be deeply involved in designing the solution towards these USO reforms?
Because once the union starts helping to design the operating model, it partly owns the outcome. If management designs a disastrous model and it fails then the accountability falls on them. But with DM26, management can now say: this is an agreed model which the CWU helped design and members voted for.
A union's fundamental purpose isn't to manage RM it's to represent the people that RM employs. I think the union has crossed the line from representing the workforce to now helping management run the business.

It’s also put Office Reps in a difficult position. They are now having to fight & battle to try and get DM26 implemented properly & fairly, however as you say it’s not the Unions job to in effect help manage the business. Local Reps are going to be damned if they do get involved in the office planning and damned if they don’t!!postslippete wrote: ↑24 Aug 2026, 19:45Why does the CWU need to be deeply involved in designing the solution towards these USO reforms?

Re: DM26 Resign
If the union hadn't got involved then RM would have enforced ODM on DO's? RM has always seemed a strange set up with CWU Reps meeting weekly with managers to resolve issues, does this happen in other companies with union reps?

Re: DM26 Resign
The trials for the ODM largely didn't work, and still
ODM = 4 into 3
DM26 = 4 into 3
The model is still there. The CWU may suggest that they have mitigated it with more full-time staff and 10,500 walks doing 50/50, but what proportion of those duties to those actually working in shared vans and pods?
What will probably happen is that RM will throw resources at DM26 to get everything signed off by the reps and then look towards cost cutting depending on how much profit/loss the company makes I guess. In the meantime, offices will look disorganised as staff are expected to somehow make it all work.
I don't understand why they can't just revise the duties and have 1 postie either taking 2 smaller duties, Tracked and 1c off one/everything off the other and alternate or for everyone to have a larger walk and do 50/50. That way you have less staff and greater efficiency but it is RM's business to run after all.

Because they are after making savings by taking vans out as well. DM27 is going to resolve the problems from DM26 then it will be DM28 sorting those problems and it goes on. The days of being on a walk for decades are a thing of the past in most cases.postslippete wrote: ↑25 Aug 2026, 17:01I don't understand why they can't just revise the duties and have 1 postie either taking 2 smaller duties, Tracked and 1c off one/everything off the other and alternate or for everyone to have a larger walk and do 50/50. Re: DM26 Resign
It seems there is a plan to get rid of legacy contracts ,giving the easy walks to new starters and bigger heavier walks to the older ones who are breaking down on delivery and trying (hoping )they quit so less VRs next year. would a union officer please come on here and tell me that is not what is happening but if it is what are they doing about it.

Re: DM26 Resign
You think there will be VR
highly unlikely with the amount of people leaving either through quitting, retirement or ill health
Why pay VR when people are leaving anyway?

They’ve made no secret of the fact that they’re want rid of legacy and want everyone on a new contract.guardianangel wrote: ↑25 Aug 2026, 19:47It seems there is a plan to get rid of legacy contracts ,giving the easy walks to new starters and bigger heavier walks to the older ones who are breaking down on delivery and trying (hoping )they quit so less VRs next year. would a union officer please come on here and tell me that is not what is happening but if it is what are they doing about it.
They don’t want to pay any VR so are not replacing staff at the same rate as they are leaving. It’s best to imagine that no one will get VR.
If new starters are managing to get walk picks that are ‘easy’ that will be short lived because everyone will be doing DM26.

Re: DM26 Resign
I was displaced and the manager and union rep told me we'll vote on having a resign later on in the year. Vote? Whats that all about? In my 30 years of working there they've never voted on whether to have a resign or not. They've either had one or not.

Re: DM26 Resign
There isn’t a vote on it. There will be a review in your office of DM26 and adjustments made and duties put up for picking plus floater day off cover positions.

Re: DM26 Resign
Then what you should do is have a maximum amount of tracked that you can do without rushing, stick with that amount and leave the remainder for the managers to deal with. Sure, they’ll not like it, but look after yourselves, not those at the top that want rid of legacy contracts.Valentina@1 wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 11:29Defiantly forcing old boys out![]()
