Eh...the headline says Wallington so it's weeks 1-3 6 days, week 4 mon-fri followed by week 5 off so 2 Saturdays off in a 5 week cycle.

As pointed out above the only bit that's wrong is it's 3 x 6 days a 1 x 5 days

Questions for people who have already changed over to the 2 in 5 Wallington, we are having our vote soon and wondered how a couple of things work

How did you change your Wallington week from the old system to DM26, by that I mean what was the cut-off? Did management let the old 6 week cycle end and start afresh?

Also if you started afresh did the people on week 1 get the previous Saturday?

And what happened to all the people on week 6 as obviously that no longer exists, where they just given random weeks?

At our place, they said that if people had booked to go away on one of the old rotation weeks, they would honour that, as the new rota was only brought in with a week or two's notice, as DM26 was rushed in ahead of expectations, so I assume they would swap the weeks. Not sure if they'll go back on that, nothing surprises me anymore. Not quite sure what happened with the now defunct Week 6. As it happened, in my own case, the week number changed, but my next rotation week is actually unchanged, but I don't think that was the same for everyone.

We've been told that for your first rotation week under the new regime, you don't get the new Saturday before the full rotation week starts, as you have to have gone the full cycle before you have "earned" the extra hours to cover it, that does make sense, but you will then get the two in five Saturdays away from work on the following cycles.

I get the point about having to earn your hours but basically nobody does apart from week 5, there can never be a week 1 for example if you don't take it till you have built up the hours.

We have also been told about honouring booked holidays but we have people with plans but don't have a booking to show for it, also a few who were finally due to have Christmas week off where now that won't be the case

Nothing is simple with RM, I still don't know why it had to change from a 6 week cycle

But at least it means another two weeks away from the office each year, plus another 10 Saturdays off as well - though at the expense of much longer days when you're in. Imagine how unworkable the new system would be if it stayed at 1 in 6, there would be nowhere near enough time each day! Perhaps they should have made it one in four so people might have some chance of completing each day with the extra that has been put on us and an increasingly inefficient system of work, driving from house to house with one first class letter!
