Re: Finish times
Do some offices still get a payment for starting early - say around 6am? I remember it from years ago.
Given that so many offices have lost that, the CWU should have fought to reapply that to offices with a finish time of past 3pm on a Saturday.

Re: Finish times
The early shift allowance went in to partially funding the delivery supplement.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Finish times
There's probably a download somewhere in the forum with the time frames for each shift supplement, don't know if they are the same in both MCs and DOs.

Wasn't sure, thanks.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 11:57The early shift allowance went in to partially funding the delivery supplement.
If CWU were on the ball a bit more then I think they could push for a share of the money being saved by pushing these times back, as I say, especially those offices given extremely un family friendly Saturday finish times.

Re: Finish times
Saving what money, I can't see DM26 saving any money unless DO's are already fully staffed, my DO of around 50 posties is already around 10 short, it seems madness we need to recruit staff to make DM26 workable.Perseus wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 12:05Wasn't sure, thanks.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 11:57The early shift allowance went in to partially funding the delivery supplement.

Re: Finish times
There are offices that still start that early? According to Martin Walsh, the network review in 2007 pushed so many offices out of eligibility that it precipitated the loss of the early shift allowance. As Clash says, it partly constitutes the delivery supplement introduced in 2010 (don't ever call it D2D payment!)
The result of the pattern ballot was supposed to be announced on Friday 7th. I only became aware of the result on Tuesday 11th and I am not someone sleepwalking through all this. The car crash commences tomorrow, Monday 17th. I understand it was a NO GO from the rep until 10 new FT positions were wrangled from the OPL at the last minute.yellowbelly wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 09:55Has your days off pattern changed too? - wIth less than 28 days notice?

The network review 2 years ago is what I’m meaning. Who knows if it ever entered the discussions.TopperGas wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 15:36Saving what money, I can't see DM26 saving any money unless DO's are already fully staffed, my DO of around 50 posties is already around 10 short, it seems madness we need to recruit staff to make DM26 workable.Perseus wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 12:05Wasn't sure, thanks.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 11:57The early shift allowance went in to partially funding the delivery supplement.

Keep us updated with the car crash Rushie, need some reality rather than the happy clappy stuff they put out on Robin.Mr Rush wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 16:46There are offices that still start that early? We're apparently going over early Sep but we know absolutely nothing apart from that. No pod constructions, no pattern ballot, no idea at all!

Re: Finish times
We've been on the failing offices list for the past week, so in terms of the analogy it's a bit like buying a write-off.
Any preponderance of clear frames on Saturday was entirely down to the new DTS behaviour activated one week out: zero sequenced trays. Of course the office is going to have its best performing day in years

Re: Finish times
That's how it's meant to be, on Friday nights the DTS only releases the 1C and any 2C where the DP actually has a 1C item. It should average just a single tray for all the walks, mostly very small bundles. Either the local MC has had problems with their machines or the management at the local MC have decided that it's not worth sequencing the mail on Fridays (think that will happen everywhere eventually).Mr Rush wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 20:45We've been on the failing offices list for the past week, so in terms of the analogy it's a bit like buying a write-off.

Of course the office is going to have its best performing day in yearsif the MC holds back almost everything. Average callrate on a fresh frame was something like *checks spreadsheet* 2.4%.
Very shortly data from flat sorting machines and packet sorting machines and I'd assume the machines in the super hubs will also feed into the DTS algorithm. I'm guessing at some point between now and the end of the year the data from the packet scanning with PDAs will also eventually feed into the DTS algorithm.

Re: Finish times
Yes, I understand that very well. I originally wrote that it was just a small bundle of 1C and 2C coincidentals and some manual that came down on Saturday. For the sake of brevity, I thought I didn't need to specify that or that context would make it clear I was not claiming zero trays came through all week.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑16 Aug 2026, 22:26That's how it's meant to be, on Friday nights the DTS only releases the 1C and any 2C where the DP actually has a 1C item.
The point I was driving at is that the only reason the unit is in a better state yesterday than it had been is because of the new DTS behaviour. They could have switched that on two weeks ago. Or the vans from the MC could have been beamed up by aliens. DOs can't clear when they're being treated like landfills. The compacting of fresh workload into the building must abate.
