Labour plan to steal another year's state pension

Post by milly »

Labour are bringing forward plans to increase the state pension age to 68, seven years earlier.
That's another £12500 stolen from the worker.
I wonder where they'll squander this cash?
Another unwanted gift from the Labour voters. :Applause

Why don't you ask the tories- it was under their coalition government that the state pension.was raised from 65 to 66. I don't vote Labour anymore but they are all as bad as each other as the latest report on.the PPE covid equipment showed the billions wasted on stuff that wasn't up to scratch- and who did these massive contracts go to - Yep you've guessed it - all the governments millionaire mates.

Indeed, there's absolutely no difference between any of them.
If they do bring this increase forward it's yet another attack on the working class that the Labour Party are supposed to represent.
Low paid workers are relient on the state pension to top up their meagre work pensions.

To put it into some context, there's been a review ongoing over the last 12 months to determine if the increase in state pension age from 67 to 68 should remain at the already legislated for timetable of between 2044-2046, or whether to bring it forward.

The two previous reviews(2017&2023) both recommended that should be accelerated to 2037-2039, but governments at the time didn't act on what was suggested.

At the time of writing there is nothing definite to announce, but 2037-2039 is believed by the OBR to be current government policy.

Presumably there won't be anything official until the latest review is concluded. Plus, it would still need to be legislated for by parliament for it to come into force!(probably a formality)

Both the current and previous governments have said any increases in SPA will be communicated at least 10 years beforehand. So if it's to be 2037-2039, they'll need to announce it in the next 8 months or so.

If so, the process is likely to be similar to the current ongoing increase from 66-67, with anyone born between 6th April 1970 - 6th April 1971 having to wait anything between 1-11 months after turning 67. Born after that and it's your 68th.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -timetable

The review may also recommend increases above 68.

The current policy is to keep the minimum access age for work/personal pensions at 10 years below state pension age, so that would presumably increase to 58 in 2039.

Why don't you ask Gordon Brown about how he killed final salary pensions by taxing the profits of the final salary pension scheme.

I've already said both parties are no different from each other.
They've all got more or less the same Globalist policies.

Tories and Labour are pretty similar these days but Count Binface has some good policies

Here's a few

Environment & Utilities

Stop the sale of arms to repressive regimes. (2019)

Water company bosses to take a dip in British rivers and see how they like it. (2024)

Abolish VAR in football. (2024)

Corners in football to be refereed properly. (2026)

Tries in Rugby League to be increased from four to five points, in line with inflation. (2026)

All British citizens to be offered stilts, to combat the UK’s increasingly wet climate. (2024)

A few years ago, an old workmate told me they were planning to make the state pension age 70. This came from his wife, who was told by her client, a DWP employee who told her they were preparing for it. That was 17 years ago. It's on its way. Those who think they shouldn't or can't afford to prepare for it, should think again.

Burnham has just appointed someone that used to work for hate not hope to advise him.
He's going going scorched earth on the UK.
Thank you all once again the people that voted Labour. :nana
