Just a few points to get off my chest
I’ve always done lots and lots of docket/ghosting during my time at Royal Mail, now with the overtime ban here, DM26 approaching and my mortgage expiring I am going to struggle to renew it on basic pay
The daily grind was bearable for so long but now it’s too much, no morale in the office, FTers coming in hours early to prep work, PTers coming in early to get out the same time as everyone else, the extreme heat and how the company dont give a f**k

Sorry to hear your feeling stressed. But you shouldn’t count on overtime even though it’s regular.there’s always the chance it will stop.done it myself years ago but never again.

It's easy to say don't rely on OT but I've been receiving it for virtually every week I've worked for RM. Stopping OT at this time of the year is very unusual for RM.

It would be suicidal for them to stop overtime in our office….all the sorting is done on it as we don’t have enough staff to do it , also LAT’s are done on it too . There is still loads of overtime if you want it ….. which I don’t

Always work off your basic pay, any overtime is a bonus while welcome it shouldn't be relied on and you should try to bank it in a savings account or put in an AVC if you can.

Problem is the IPS is done by mostly the same legacy staff in our DO and LATs by 1 or 2 regulars, little chance of anybody else doing that type of OT if it's cut elsewhere.

Re: The job has taken its toll mentally on me
You should have an overtime rota to share it around.
There is a problem with PT staff doing early IPS as they can't start their regular day until there official start time which in our office may mean a 90min gap between completing overtime and starting official duty. Luckily

The problem in our office is nobody knows the ips. It’s your so called legacy staff who do it because some of them actually know how to.
