Re: Offices 'officially' in trouble?
Last week they shipped in extra bods to help clear the office. Still didn't clear. However, not surprised the office is in a mess when two van share pairs were left waiting nearly 4 hours for their hire vans to show up.
Vans were pre-booked so not a last minute arrangement. HCT route's not fairing much better due to lack of staff and aging HCT's.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

If you look at the periodic table, Hafnium-179 is a specific stable isotope of the element Hafnium. It holds the quirky scientific crown of having the largest "quadrupole moment" of any stable nuclide, which is a fancy way of saying its nuclear charge distribution is incredibly unspherical and oddly shaped.

Re: Offices 'officially' in trouble?
Imagine if my electricity provider decided that it was only going to supply me with power on two or three days per week, because it did not have the staff to provide the daily service it is legally obliged to.
Ofgem would, I hope, have zero tolerance for such excuses. Failure to recruit and retain sufficient staff to meet your obligations is entirely a failure of management and HR policy, not the population for whom these roles are either so unattractive that they don't apply, or so onerous and poorly supported that they leave after a few weeks or go on long-term sick leave. The regulator would be removing their licence to operate.
So where are Ofcom? Completely MIA. OK, on the face of it, conducting another 'investigation', which will no doubt end in another fine which represents just a few days' turnover, and which costs Royal Mail less than it would to resource their operations to meet the USO. So once again, RM prices it in as a cost of doing their ever-worsening business. This is not regulation, it is capitulation.

Re: Offices 'officially' in trouble?
In terms of networks, the most apparent parallel in Ofcom's domain is/was the oversubscription of service by Internet Service Providers. It has long been the caser that bandwidth is starved because no-one wants to lay new copper/fibre while continuing to sell subscriptions beyond the reasonable carrying capacity of the network.youngoffender wrote: ↑16 Jul 2026, 13:53Imagine if my electricity provider decided that it was only going to supply me with power on two or three days per week, because it did not have the staff to provide the daily service it is legally obliged to Ofgem would, I hope, have zero tolerance for such excuses.
They used to blame Torrenters hammering the lines, and in a way that's really the problem we have. Everyone knows the usual suspects on their duty driving up packet volumes.
The machine stops.
