DM26 - Is it working?

Yes i know, but when the MC doesn't bother to sort the mail by machine and just crash sorts it into DO's.

Then 2nd class mail ends up in the frame that could stay at the MC/machine for another day or 2.

I had 4 2nd class letters (sorted loose from the IPS) for the same address. So they're getting a 1st class service for 2nd class prices.

Does it have two orange barcodes on it?

Is there different colours being used?

Nope, only orange. One identifies the item the other has got the delivery point details. If there's only 1 barcode or the lower one isn't complete then the machines won't have the info they need to sort the item to the correct batch, but it might have enough info to know which DO it's going to.

What's your method of dealing with managers when bringing the mail back - just ignore them and walk away? or are your managers reasonable and don't actually question your work ethic every single time you bring stuff back?

Im Working full time... on seasonal various hours.... to be forced into working this dm 26... an increase of hours to over 48 hours a week by force.

They have all of the data to see for themselves that you aren’t taking the piss. Learn to speak up for yourself and say no. My managers know where they stand with me. They don’t get 30 seconds out of me and know that anything extra they asked will always be declined. I have no issues from anyone. I do my job correctly to my finish time and couldn’t give one bollocks how much mail is failed. Nobody can question you for that.

Shame the majority are too afraid to do that and are also coming in hours each week before their time for free. Keep doing what you’re doing

I'm not sure how this will get rid of people on legacy contracts. I actually have something to lose by letting the changes affect me so much I will quit. Surely the people on new contracts will just find another minimum wage job considering the hours are also becoming as bad as anything else. A lot of the older 45+ folk especially will not want to try work from the bottom somewhere else, they will just absorb the changes.

I was reading recently about 'combat fatigue' during the World Wars and this particular paragraph resonated...

Airmen flew far more often in the Southwest Pacific than in Europe, and although rest time in Australia was scheduled, there was no fixed number of missions that would produce transfer out of combat, as was the case in Europe. Coupled with the monotonous, hot, sickly environment, the result was bad morale that jaded veterans quickly passed along to newcomers. After a few months, epidemics of combat fatigue would drastically reduce the efficiency of units.

There you go, give disgruntled long-timers VR and the pods will be ready to charge the enemy once more.
