Offices 'officially' in trouble?

Most offices waiting for Doom26 to come in will be running very short staffed.

It is shocking and I bet the main reason in nearly every one of those is cost cutting. OT reductions or bans or deliberately being short of staff.

Are any of those offices actually using Doom26?

A few have popped up on the list briefly during their initial week. When DM26 gets deployed, then and only then are resources thrown at a unit to put it in a position to stay off the list. The company won't spend its way out of this problem beforehand because it would deprive them of a rationale for DM26.

I understand in our area the three or four offices already live are tiny (~20 duties). Like the ODM rollout last year, we'll see how DM26 fares on contact with large town offices.

This record failure rate is without doubt wilful on the part of Royal Mail senior management. In our office, there has been a strict excess overtime ban for the past week, after ad hoc bans on selected days on and off for months, despite no floats to cover booked holidays and staff not being replaced on leaving.

And someone who normally works half of their Wallington week on overtime was expressly told she could not this week, despite her job having about a week's letters sat in the frame. She has never been refused the opportunity to work those days off going back years.

It's like there is now a more concerted effort for USO letter delivery to fail big time, so that the new owners can wriggle out of having to do it at all and force the government's hand to make other arrangements. DM26 is just a sham to keep OFCOM at bay. It was quite embarrassing delivering those Royal Mail door to doors recently, advising customers that second class would soon be delivered every other day, when 5 to 8 days post was being delivered in one go with the leaflets!

Same at our place, manager said it was national as well and it's going to be like this probably 10 weeks. We're on collections and he's been told 'if a duty is going to fail/somebody ill, don't cover it with overtime'. Yesterday a few people were moved around and collection routes were split up etc, I know on 1 wave on a duty (we do 3 a day) had 16 collection failures.

We have 3 massive 6/7 hour Saturday routes and only 2 were done this weekend.

It is 100% being failed on purpose.

It's obvious the reason for all these failures is the parcel volumes, it's crazy for this time of year so they are being prioritised over letters no matter what any upper management say

Packets always have and always will be prioritised over letters in both MCs and DOs.

Ah, on the list finally

Absolutely blown out of the water on Monday with 10,000+ packets - very nearly a full house. As I have absolutely no interest in staying out one minute past stupid o'clock I'm unaware if there is an OT ban. If there isn't, there are precious few takers. By the time we finish latterly, years ago the docket kings would be finishing up their third walk of the day.
