No 16.30 cap?
Is this true that there is an agreement today that this end of duty cap does not exist therefore a duty could theoretically now be 9-5 or 10-6 even for old contract staff?

Re: No 16.30 cap?
We already work past 4.30pm on our longest days. Have done since the network changes 2 years ago.heraldmoth wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026, 15:52Is this true that there is an agreement today that this end of duty cap does not exist therefore a duty could theoretically now be 9-5 or 10-6 even for old contract staff?

Re: No 16.30 cap?
I mean I terms of a deliveries planned finish time, working past a finish time on overtime is different to a duty’s planned finish time, which I believed was 4.30pm

Re: No 16.30 cap?
Working past 4.30pm IS our planned finishing time without overtime. Other offices do it as well, particularly in Scotland, although my unit is in England.heraldmoth wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026, 18:09I mean I terms of a deliveries planned finish time, working past a finish time on overtime is different to a duty’s planned finish time, which I believed was 4.30pm

Re: No 16.30 cap?
Ok so it’s just confirmation that if it suits all finish times could be 5pm or 6pm and work back from there for a start time

Do you think it suited people to have their finish times moved to 4:30pm?heraldmoth wrote: ↑04 Jul 2026, 17:58Ok so it’s just confirmation that if it suits all finish times could be 5pm or 6pm and work back from there for a start time

They'll join the thousands that already left. The company doesn't care - actually that's not true, this has been the desired outcome for a long time.qwerty2 wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026, 18:21Thousands would leave if it was 5-6pm finishheraldmoth wrote: ↑03 Jul 2026, 15:52Is this true that there is an agreement today that this end of duty cap does not exist therefore a duty could theoretically now be 9-5 or 10-6 even for old contract staff?

Yep. Some senior posties still think they are irreplaceable and the business needs them because “they know the sorting best”. While that may be true on an individual office basis, the company nationally couldn’t give a s**t if you’ve done 40 years or 40 minutes. Once your out the door you’ll be replaced by the next poor soul on the conveyor belt and never be thought of again. We’re all just numbers on a spreadsheet to be exploited to boost the financial portfolio of Mr Kretinsky.Mr Rush wrote: ↑05 Jul 2026, 21:59They'll join the thousands that already left. That's late, our longest day is 2:20, but I think it will be changing come Sept with the changes coming in

Re: No 16.30 cap?
Is there a direct correlation between offices that have later finishes and number of DPR drivers they have? Our LAT/DPR duties disappeared overnight with the introduction of later finishes. I guess it feeds into RM's dream of once over the ground.

They area manager, or whatever they're called these days, wanted to make us finish at 5pm when the network changes came in 2 years ago. The reason we didn't, so I'm told, was because that would have meant extending our previous finishing times by 80 minutes and the agreement at the time only allowed a maximum of an hour to be added on. We're hearing whispers that the planners intend us to have a last letter time of 5pm when ODM arrives in my office, ie a signing out time of 5.15pm.
We're not exactly jumping for joy at the prospect. We're already delivering while negotiating horrendous traffic at school run time and the start of the rush hour (which actually seems to last for about 3 hours where I live due to the large employers allowing flexi-time working), and it looks like we'll be going deeper into it in the near future. Add on working longer in the dark in the Winter, particularly in rural areas, and a lot of people are beginning to question whether they want to stay or look for alternative employment. We can only dream of finshing at 2.30pm here. We haven't finished any earlier than 3pm on any day since 2010.

Re: No 16.30 cap?
Killing off the internal flights to save the planet was greenwashing. The Network Review was about extending the acceptance window so more high volume Tracked would connect with core delivery. Before June 2024 the only times we'd see T24 is if LATs couldn't shift it the night before. And so here we are in July, equidistant from Christmases past and yet to come, and duties are rolling over T48s.
The machine stops.

Re: No 16.30 cap?
Just an update. We've just had a briefing session in my unit about the ODM26 model, and the proposals include a 5.15pm finish on our two longest days and a 4.15pm finish on Saturdays. We currently finish at 3.50pm on Saturdays, so where does this idea of earlier finishes on Saturdays that everyone's talking about enter the equation?

Re: No 16.30 cap?
40hr contracts that hold a duty finish at 13:55 on saturday for us. Legacy are 13:25.
If you're finishing at 4pm are you starting later?
