The role of a rep in detail
What’s the role of a rep in detail, where do I find the agreement because I’ve heard mentioning some agreements and when I read them, the content is not what they are talking about

There is no 'rep' agreements as such.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: The role of a rep in detail
That's deliberate, what do they call it, gatekeeping? Information is power and it's used in the trade union movement to maintain positions, discipline, validate, manipulate and control.
Brief summary:
Shop steward - deals with everything, interacts with workers, recruits, all the real stuff like what time your starting, what time the breaks are, turning the national agreements into reality. You did this in your employers time, not yours.
Beneath the shop steward there are layers and layers of positions which in the simplest explanation do everything they can to avoid working for a living, to avoid being a shop steward, to avoid being anywhere near a shop steward, to do everything they can to undermine a shop steward and frankly on the whole are working class traitors.
Try the TUC website for more info as they provide training courses for shop stewards.

Re: The role of a rep in detail
Dedicated individuals form the core of trade union representatives when they start.
The problem being that since they sold off Alvescot Lodge training centre, the quality of those new reps leaves a lot to be desired.
That though is not the fault of those new reps.
The problem is they virtually get no genuine support from branch level when needed, and as time goes on, they realise how corrupt the entire system is at branch level and above, just looking after their own perks.
