Was bad enough when u just went to the doors that had mail with a dtd . Double up slots, the way they changed it last cpl months means going to every door, and in our duty 3 loops in a row , they way the frame is now. Meaning takes more time . Everything seems to be against us now
We still warm call all our D2D's, RM have never suggested they need to be cold called? If it's double slots just leave the second one in the frame.

If you’ve been off or off the next day how do you/they know which door it’s for :arrrghhh

This used to wind me up too but recently I’ve just given up caring about where d2ds end up being delivered, as long as they are prepped in frame they will get delivered at some point and if some lucky bugger gets them twice cos of double slot confusion then so be it. They all end up in the bin anyway.

You always take the one to the right and leave the one to the left in the frame, unless both properties have mail, or i
If its the one to the left then you take both.

Although if I know I'm on the duty for most of the week then I just fold the corner over if it's the one to the left so I know its been left in the frame.

It's madness to spend time cold calling D2D's just because you can't use a bit of common sense to know which ones to leave in the frame.

When so many offices just leave them in boxes under frames I have also given up caring which houses get and which get 2. They're all s**t anyway and im definitely not cold calling them, we do enough walking each day to do even more for a pizza leaflet.

While I'd once have argued that the problem is knowing whether your day off cover can be bothered to follow / is mentally capable of following such a system, it's been a moot point for a number of years now because there isn't any day off cover. And sometimes no annual leave cover either, so when you come back you can deliver the previous week's D2D to your preferred standard.
The machine stops.

Exactly this. Shame it wasn't said so bluntly in the parliamentary committee meeting. Unfortunately the NHS management want a 1st class service whilst effectively paying for a 3rd class product.
If they pay for second class, then that is what they want. Second class is within 3 days. This is the same for everyone who purchases a second class stamp, your comment is back to front it should read why is everyone paying a first class price for a third class service
The difference between 1C and 2C is built into when the mail gets dispatched from the Outward MC to the Inward MC. 1C is dispatched to the Inward MC from the Outward MC the same day it arrives at the Outward MC. The 2C is dispatched to the Inward MC from the Outward MC the day after it arrives at the Outward MC.
So 2 out of 4 frames should be clear every day, and second class delivery within 2 days of arrival at the delivery office? Or the day it arrives if it’s held at the mail centre?
The 4 frames will be clear (in theory). Only mail due for delivery will arrive on a daily basis.

Even if you aren't off, how are you expected to remember which door has or hasn't had a d2d. It requires writing on the remaining d2d's which is time consuming.

The D2D issue isn't a problem for most of our office because they're simply not being delivered. We're going to get to the point where nobody will be able to walk anywhere without tripping over an ever increasing bundle.

All 2C manual letters and flats will still be sent out to DOs each day. The DOs need to put it through their IPS frames to extract the 2C for the walks which have got their 2C day that day.

Plus I assumed it had to be prepped into the frame even if it wasn't that frames 2c day so that if an address has a parcel/1c item you could also take the 2nd class/d2d "coincidental" or whatever the term was item.

Most of our flats come already sorted into walks so there's no need to put them through the IPS frame, even if they are there's no reason to prep the duties which aren't going out that day, hence MW's comments that posties are coming back to clear frames, whilst ignoring the fact the mail is sat in trays unprepped!

There is a new way of prepping your duties with DM26

All mail that arrives in the mech trays go straight to you RM2000 frame and is thrown in. All items in the mech trays are due that day including all 1st class, 2nd class, internationals, anything else. Any machinable 2nd class mail for any part or full walk that is on a "Light day" will be held at the mail centre unless there is a 1st class item for an address.

You next collect any 1st class manual mail from the new pink IPS frames and throw that in.

Next you sort all the parcels and packets for your duty, scanning them to core etc.

Finally you go to the new Blue or Yellow manual IPS frames, and collect the mail, if you are on a light day once at your frame you only throw in any 2nd class into any addresses that already have mail in the frame or have a packet/parcel, everything else is to be stored in a tray at the frame and prepped the next day.

If you are on a heavy day you prep all the manual 2nd class.

You finally tie down and CLEAR all mail from the frame. The only items left in the frame should be D2D and also the tray of manual mail left for the next day.

The main difference being you only prep the second class (blue/yellow) after all 1st class and packets/parcels are thrown in

I also thought that when MW said about the clear frames. Clear frames are not really clear if there's boxes of mail stacked next to them.

Also, the manual 2c that creates these boxes. At our office the sorting is generally done so that the mail is mixed up. For example walks 1 and 2, the mail in the holes will be mixed up. This means that all the mail will need sifting and sorting at the frame still because some will be getting delivered and some will not.

But they've also been saying for ages, 'Only mail for delivery that day will arrive at the DOs". Lies.

Thanks for that it clears up how the "coincidental" items will be dealt with.
