where do part timers fit into this new way of working, in Manchester how do guys on part time contracts of 25,27.5,30 hour contracts fit in, I can't see how part timers could contribute to heavy days, just lights I would have thought

Re: dm26
Aren’t the managers paid a bonus to manipulate (bully) the part timers out of the business? Only one person in my office still on a 25 hour contract, due to children at school, constantly being picked on while others are stood around doing nothing

Re: dm26
Part timers don't fit it now, never mind with the "new" way of working. Many part timers have had the overtime they were given in the morning to prep their frame drastically cut recently which is absurd given that a lot of them are working heavy town-based van share duties with D2Ds and triple mail coming out of their ears. On the other hand, we have people on full time hours (or some manager's specials on part time contracts who are getting some morning overtime) with less work and getting back from the duty 40 mins or more early, just in time for scones, coffee and chat with their cronies.

Re: dm26
Just so you know heavy and light isn't about heavy days and light days. More about heavy and light loops/bags. With each postie doing 4 bags of all products and 4 loops/bags of tracked and 1st class each day. Saturday you could say is lighter if 100 tracked, 30 1st class, 10 specials 4 customer collections and 3 boxes can be classed as light.postmanplod2026 wrote: ↑14 Jun 2026, 13:11where do part timers fit into this new way of working, in Manchester how do guys on part time contracts of 25,27.5,30 hour contracts fit in, I can't see how part timers could contribute to heavy days, just lights I would have thought

Re: dm26
Yesterday i had over 130 tracked, atleast 80 1st class and the usual boxes collections etc, the only saving grace was 2 specials neither of which was a Saturday 1pm plus one of the 2 rounds I covered is considered partailly rural.
Of the 2 rounds one of them will be getting in the region of 120 tracked from October onwards.

Re: dm26
80 1c seems high, was that double or more even days 1c? Just wait til DM26 starts and you also have to deliver the 2c which has hit the 3 & 5 day triggers!!zacattack wrote: ↑14 Jun 2026, 19:45Yesterday i had over 130 tracked, atleast 80 1st class and the usual boxes collections etc, the only saving grace was 2 specials neither of which was a Saturday 1pm plus one of the 2 rounds I covered is considered partailly rural.

Re: dm26
There are no ''heavy and light days''
it incorporates ''heavy and light'' because one frame will be heavy and the other light on a van share swapping each day
or one half of your frame heavy and the other half light on a singleton duty
Its not about one day being heavy and then the next being light

If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

I wouldn't worry about it too much atm.lincolnshirepostie wrote: ↑14 Jun 2026, 13:13I'm currently on a 4 day week on 26 hours due to mental health and am also interested as to how my work schedule is going to fit in with these changes.
I overheard the managers saying they've been told they need to hire 15 people so we're fully staffed for the revision....but that they've been told there's no budget for recruitment

Re: dm26
Considering the number of part time CWU members the union have roundly ignored them. All of the available information is based on full time hours. All the duty options are full time hours. We can only guess that there will be part time duties. A starting point will be your TM1 and the historic make up of the duties. The POD's are likely to be predominately full time. The agreement was a 75/25 split. On that basis each POD will be 2 full time, 1 part time duty. The floater will be full time. If you apply that to your POD set up you should be able to work out if you are a 75/25 split.postmanplod2026 wrote: ↑14 Jun 2026, 13:11where do part timers fit into this new way of working, in Manchester how do guys on part time contracts of 25,27.5,30 hour contracts fit in, I can't see how part timers could contribute to heavy days, just lights I would have thought
The interesting question is what the CWU agreed. Pre 22 contracts can volunteer to increase their contract hours. The agreement implies that post 22 contracts will have their hours increased where necessary without seeking their agreement. For workers who have a contractual variation and who are pre 22 that variation cannot be changed without agreement. Post 22 may not be in the same situation.

Most of the stuff that isn't flats can't be mech. If you was to take the 2C and the non 1C DSA out of the mech then each batch would have less than 1/4 of a tray with just half a dozen, a dozen at the very most 1C items for each walk.

That's not reflective of our depot. Another issue that's reared it's head is bank cards and PIN arriving in the same mech tray.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑Yesterday, 09:58Most of the stuff that isn't flats can't be mech. If they are both in the same batch on the same day and one of them is released, the other one is also automatically released.zacattack wrote: ↑Yesterday, 10:11That's not reflective of our depot. Re: dm26
I actually counted them on Saturday. 33 NHS letters, 4 first class flats, 38 first class stamped/franked letters. Total 75 first class, not including packets. That was an average day.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑Yesterday, 09:58Most of the stuff that isn't flats can't be mech.
