Re: Letter
What about all the mail that arrives at offices daily that needs sorting manually?
Are you saying all that offices will receive will only be for what is actually due out that day? I don't see how that is possible.

If Royal Mail got what they want then they would have imposed from July as every month it was delayed cost them £20 million pounds. Yet the union has changed the model from ODM put in more routes , taken 20% of the routes out of scope and increase the full time staff levels by 6000 and got safeguards.
Royal Mail certainly did not want this. Scotchy hope retirement is going well but this is not your fight. I have been meeting with members and reps and is difficult for them to understand that they won’t be delivering what they are currently.
For example some one posted how can they say the office is clear when the work has been kept in the Mail centre. Because that is the new USO you only receive 1st class for all routes and 50% of the routes will receive the non priority mail, the rest will be kept in the mail centre.
I work in One of the trial offices and the town staff have been slaughtered daily. Don’t paint a picture that is simply inaccurate.
One of the main issues that was put to union reps and management regularly was d2ds. How the hell anyone can think we can go from having a week to complete them to having to do them all in 2 days one week and 3 days the next week is madness. And guess what, never a solution created. Just take them and do them and we will pay the overtime, ever did 350 d2ds in a day Martin along with double or triple mail and 120 odd tracked ?

Re: Letter
A bit like Saturday parcel deliveries, why can't RM/CWU think outside the box and either outsource D2D's to agency staff or pay staff OT to do them, particularly on the town duties where it's easy to just bomb round with them?

Re: Letter
These 3 things would make the job so much easier, scrap D2Ds, no 1 o'clock specials and Saturdays on OT, I'd vote for that.

Re: Letter
Agency can come do the f***ing parcels and I will do the letters and D2D. That was the job I signed up for and it hasn't gone anywhere, so don't dare hand it off to someone else! They can come in to doorstep 120 Tracked as they do.
The machine stops.

Re: Letter
Assuming DM26 is brought in D2D's then they will be going elsewhere as it'll be impossible to deliver them all in a week, next week is a good example, Saturday's mail, which is normally due to go out on Monday, will now go out on Wednesday along with Monday's mail, so that's 3 days mail plus D2D's to try and deliver plus most likely well over 100 Tracked items.

I will continue until the union do what they are meant to do and represent their members and not themselves.

Mr Walsh
Please understand you make many statements on your various platforms a lot of them are just not true
You were determined to get equalisation you failed miserably promising that they would get back pay from September 2025
You then state there is no magic tree of money available surprisingly back room staff are all receiving bonuses this year.
In the early days of all this nonsense it was muted that most would end up getting every other Saturday off Failed
It looks that most offices will have to settle for 2 in 5
In fact you have made no mention of the 25% of people who will lose their walks how many Saturday’s are they getting off
I’ll make a educated guess none
Still no decision as to what happens to none driver’s
Inflation busting 3% rise still not received
Polling card money still not received
I could probably go on and on but it’s getting boring.
I know you probably won’t reply which in it’s self says everything.

Re: Letter
Thanks for the reply Sean06
I am sorry that I have only actually posted twice despite joining the site 5 years ago but in my defence I consider
Myself to be one of the silent majority hence tend only to read what’s going on but as I said felt the need to express
My view.
I am not a union basher I appreciate it’s a difficult job negotiating with the powers that be but in my opinion
The top level union officials shout out things that they are determined to do only to back down far too easily
I also never said that the back office people did not deserve their bonuses only noted that they were getting one
Where as the rest of us are not.
I also note you made no reference to my points on the 25% losing their walks what’s happening with none driver’s
And is everyone in the offices getting off 2 Saturday’s in 5
Thanks for the information on the back pay I was unaware that a date had been announced.
I Would really appreciate if Martin or yourself could answer the above as the silent majority would love to know.

This is a great deal, says the CWU, it’s just our silly members do not fully understand. Sheer arrogance of it!

The perception to some posties might be that a 'backroom' job is somewhat easier than pounding the streets.
If the backroom staff are already on a low wage perhaps CWU should be fighting for an upgrade to their basic wage than relying on bonuses?
Perhaps we (posties) should be focusing on why CWU don't seem to have challenged the fact that the two bonuses we receive at Christmas haven't increased (even with inflation) in the (at least) ten years I've been in the job instead of decrying other colleagues bonuses. Or perhaps we should consider ourselves 'lucky' that everybody gets the bonus no matter what standard they perform the job to.
It's a conundrum......
And someone else mentioned in a thread somewhere that we get the 'Delivery Supplement'. I personally don't class that as a 'bonus'.

It's not a bonus. Each function has their own supplement, they get paid that supplement however much it is if they are full time, every week.yellowbelly wrote: ↑24 May 2026, 10:21And someone else mentioned in a thread somewhere that we get the 'Delivery Supplement'.
