Can I collect a missed delivery on the same day I missed it?

Post by MarkDavies »

I’ve missed a delivery this morning and is automatically rescheduled for redelivery tomorrow, but it’s vital I have this package today. Is there a way I could retrieve this from the depot/sorting office later on today? What’s the procedure? Thanks.

Unlikely, the postie will carry it in his van until he finishes his shift, then take it back to the office to prepare it for delivery the next day. Also, the office is unlikely to be open to visitors, as most have had their customer service hours drastically reduced over the last decade or so. Your one shot is to search your local area to see if you can find them. Take some form of ID with a photo on it and the card, if they left one. But speak to them nicely, the official procedure is to refuse to hand it over in the street, but common courtesy sometimes overrules policy.
