He is a non driver so if he gets back to the van before I do he just sits there on his phone whilst I try catch up and do all the bigger parcels.
Why isn't he doing them with you?

You need to tell him it's both your jobs.

Doesn't affect me H, I'm just quoting what I often hear in the office. And I've got the wherewithal to do exactly what you suggest but many don't or won't to avoid conflict. Furthermore, ultimately what you quote is the manager's responsibility to instruct people what to do.

Same when people get back 'early' and just stand around chewing the fat until clock out when there's frames with D2D's that could be prepped or a small loop nearby that could be delivered etc. 'Not my job, that's not my walk'. That's what's going to be the problem with the 'assist/support/help' ' element of ODM26!!

Sounds like the managers need to start to be much stricter in DOs and not be afraid to conduct code people if need be.

They need to be consistent, but that would affect their mates. All people will do is drag it out until finishing time. Every issue could be addressed with a full and proper revision, no one can tell me they couldn’t have done this in the 12 months since ODM was first announced. It all looks like guess work by the higher ups, with no input from the sheep (management below board level)

Guy I work with i help do pkts as well if finished at same time but when he's off I often get paired with others who when they finish early just sit on their phone or sit and watch me deliver my mail so when roles are reversed I do the same...thankfully my regular guy works his day off most weeks so no conflict we work together.

I help my partner do the big ones or finish his loop if I’m done first but a point that hasn’t been mentioned is usually the non drivers loops are bigger than the drivers because when park and loop was introduced the driver was supposed to do the big parcels and that’s why had the shorter loop

Obviously now there’s way more big parcels than there were back then but the loop sizes have stayed the same mostly
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

What! So what happens to all the DPR duties and the people that do them?

I think we need to wait and see what happens in our own offices because we know that offices work differently now and will do in the future

Good point seeing that on a daily basis 50% of the delivery work time will be basically what a dpr duty does, I also think this needs clarifying, we don't have them but it's bloody important for those that do

👍 Don't worry we will be fully staffed and have spare workers to cover all eventualities 🤔
