1st Class Delivered In Your Own Time If It Is Missed
Anyone else have a manager phoning you up when you’re out on delivery if you miss even 1 1st class letter in the fitting (of mail you don’t take out) they make us come back to the depot to get it and if this causes us to be late finishing we have to do it in our own time unpaid! Surely this is illegal, forcing us to work unpaid? Just when you think this company can’t get any worse it does…

Luckily not. Our managers harass and bully, but not to that extent.....
but once these USO changes come in I expect things to get toxic again.

Did you ask for a frame check before you left for delivery?snort wrote: ↑12 May 2026, 23:05Anyone else have a manager phoning you up when you’re out on delivery if you miss even 1 1st class letter in the fitting (of mail you don’t take out) they make us come back to the depot to get it and if this causes us to be late finishing we have to do it in our own time unpaid! That's what you do stand there and watch him check frame when all clear leave, anything appears after that it's not on you .

Dont work a minute unpaid, where is your union? If you dont mind speaking up, ask for it in writing. The company is legally required to pay you at least minimum wage for any work that you do. No ifs, no buts. If they insist you do it for free, ask for that to be put in writing then take them to court. Of course they won't put it in writing because they know they're wrong and just trying it on.
The easiest thing to do is to send them a txt message following the phone call saying "You've told me to come back to the office to pick up 1st class and you've told me I won't get paid for the work. Please reply to confirm that".
Personally I'm thorough with checking the frame for 1st class so that I don't get the call to start with. Also it's not good that you've missed it in the first place although I can see why with the amount of workload and wanting to get out. Ensure that every single 1st class is taken out, but if you start to run out of time, just bring them back and say nothing.

Simple, don't answer your phone to them. Even better, block them

Good advice. If RM wants to stay in touch with you they can supply you with a business phone or call you via the PDA. Same goes for van shares. I don't want anyone at all from working contacting me on my personal phone.TooManyLoops wrote: ↑13 May 2026, 16:15Simple, don't answer your phone to them. Even better, block them

Don't put first class in the frames if you're not taking it out.

I keep mine out the frame until I am sure I will be doing a certain loop. If not doing any loops I just roughly sort 1C in order of loops. It's literally the last thing I sort.

The OP here is grievance worthy. Go on the Robin app and raise a concern. Forced unpaid work is bullshit.

On the flip side can a postie be conducted for leaving 1c in the frame when told it all must be delivered without fail?funkflex55 wrote: ↑13 May 2026, 19:08The OP here is grievance worthy. Go on the Robin app and raise a concern. Forced unpaid work is bullshit.

Re: 1st Class Delivered In Your Own Time If It Is Missed
I think that depends.if the frame was full of mail and they missed a couple when pulling them out then no, the case would not get anywhere. If the postie was asked to take them and left most or all of them in then yes, conduct is fair.TopperGas wrote: ↑13 May 2026, 19:23On the flip side can a postie be conducted for leaving 1c in the frame when told it all must be delivered without fail?funkflex55 wrote: ↑13 May 2026, 19:08The OP here is grievance worthy. Absolutely. However, an edge case: some 1C does make it into the sequenced trays on occassion, and if someone else is prepping your walk and not paying attention it may end up in the frame.claretandblue wrote: ↑13 May 2026, 18:25Don't put first class in the frames if you're not taking it out.
The machine stops.
