Re: £980m
Just to sit on the floor under the managers desk once a week?

Re: £980m
That's insane. They do less work as they share 1 duty between themselves and the person they are training for just 1 week only....
then that 'trained-up' postie gets lumped with a regular postie in a van-share and that regular postie has to give training but whilst doing 2 duties and gets absolutely no payment for doing so.
On the second week - it should be the workplace coach taking the new recruit out in a van-share, doing 2 duties, not a regular postie!

Re: £980m
A quick estimate, a £7 rise on £40 is about 17%,
It wasn’t as if they could say we want that much or we’re not doing it.

Re: £980m
And then the postie gets frustrated when they find out the newbie has had zero training including the use of a PDA. This all eats into delivery time, not to mention that they'll be slowed right down and may not want to go over their finish time. I've had newbies just turn up to my frame before telling me that I'm training them without me receiving any official request from management.
Not related to this thread, but I'm shocked at the standards of some of the new recruits. Typically late teen men (boys?) with no communication skills, no interest in anything, clearly don't want to work, and walk slower than a snail.

Re: £980m
To be fair, I think that was the case when I started. I know I was slow initially, but back then you were on your own so you weren't holding up the guy next to you. The crewbus would leave without you and you were dumped in an unfamiliar part of town well past the first letter time and left to sink or swim. For those that didn't quit, it was character building!
The machine stops.
