All the posts on Robin of all the offices getting ODM ready mean that it's ODM that we're getting. No way all that effort is being made if the decision isn't already made.

Some would say the decision was made before it was ever trialled.funkflex55 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2026, 19:30No way all that effort is being made if the decision isn't already made.

Re: Extract from the CWU Reps DRP brief - Heavy and Light
Doubt it will be this week. Even if they get an agreement this week which seems to be the aim of both sides we won’t be told anything until next week. Much more important people than us like the PEC and divisional reps will get to see it first. When we get a glimpse of the agreement it will be paired with a torrent of union propaganda about how brilliant it is that we will be doing more work under the new USO to benefit Mr Kretinsky.

I thought everything had been agreed last week and it was now just a case of getting the communications agreed and then sent outz surely they can't drag that out for a fortnight?

Re: Extract from the CWU Reps DRP brief - Heavy and Light
Manual letters and flats will obviously keep being sent to DOs in separate 1C and 2C trays as they are now. How is it supposed to work with the mech? What happens on the "heavy day" if there's no 1C for the DP and then on the "light day" there is? The "light days" will sometimes be really busy when mail hits the time limit.
I can see it not taking long for batches to become massive all the time, when that happens they'll take a lot longer to run and so we'll have to put dispatch times back to allow enough time to run the batches.

It wouldnt matter if you are only taking 1st class and tracked from the bit of the frame that day not everything is to go out - the 2nd class would be left for the heavy day when that part goes out surelySpacePhoenix wrote: ↑07 Apr 2026, 19:58Manual letters and flats will obviously keep being sent to DOs in separate 1C and 2C trays as they are now. You'll have 1C and 2C mixed together. There's going to be a lot of 2C failing its delivery targetAcca Dacca wrote: ↑07 Apr 2026, 21:06It wouldnt matter if you are only taking 1st class and tracked from the bit of the frame that day not everything is to go out - the 2nd class would be left for the heavy day when that part goes out surelySpacePhoenix wrote: ↑07 Apr 2026, 19:58Manual letters and flats will obviously keep being sent to DOs in separate 1C and 2C trays as they are now. That’s why there’s now separate second class and first class IPS in DOs now ready for thisSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Apr 2026, 11:21You'll have 1C and 2C mixed together. The CSS machines sequence/walk sort 1C and 2C together.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑08 Apr 2026, 12:35That’s why there’s now separate second class and first class IPS in DOs now ready for thisSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Apr 2026, 11:21You'll have 1C and 2C mixed together. Somebody is splitting them somewhere before they arrive at our DO, as the 1c bundles arrive separately on the last wagon every day.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Apr 2026, 13:14The CSS machines sequence/walk sort 1C and 2C together.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑08 Apr 2026, 12:35That’s why there’s now separate second class and first class IPS in DOs now ready for thisSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Apr 2026, 11:21You'll have 1C and 2C mixed together. Re: Extract from the CWU Reps DRP brief - Heavy and Light
The original plan was for any letters that arrives mech sorted is due that day, whether it is first or second. (that is also true at the moment too but is never enforced as far as I am aware when Streaming is required). The plan was/is for the mail centres to hold any second class, like they do now for the dsa, for any walk or part walk that is not due a delivery of second class that day. I guess they will tweak the programming to facilitate this.
The IPS frame colour changes are for the manual sorting and large letters/flats.
That was the original idea, we will have to wait and see what the new proposals are but I think it will be the same. That is the only way we can hit the quality targets. The detail is in how large will the walks be, if they make each walk acheivable with the increased call rates expected on the "heavy" days then everything would work OK. However after seeing the state of many offices after the failed revisions that cut too much and made many if not all walks too big to complete on a normal day, I dont hold out much hope of any improvement.
Maybe they should use AI to plan the new walks it cannot be any worse!!

The 2C can't be held for any longer than it is otherwise the USO quality targets will be failed. If a DP has 1C item or a 2C item that has hit the time limit, ALL mail for that DP is released.mr hil. wrote: ↑08 Apr 2026, 22:54The original plan was for any letters that arrives mech sorted is due that day, whether it is first or second. Re: Extract from the CWU Reps DRP brief - Heavy and Light
The 2nd class stamped, meter or ppi would only be held for a maximum of 1 day, the dsa mail will link in as it does now, however Saturdays are going to have to change for dsa, the new model would fail if the DSA mail hits it maximum and would be released on a Saturday. No 2nd class mail on a Saturday should mean just that so if the DSA is not the newer "day2 1st class" stream it would be not due on a Saturday anyway. I am sure they were classifying dsa mail as 2nd class from now on (except the new "1st class" DSA)
I am not sure how the DSA will work regarding its time limits, but if they exclude Saturday as a delivery day then Fridays and Mondays will become heavier days because I expect the held mail will be released Friday if it maxes out on a Saturday even if no corresponding 1st class comes through. But will Saturday and Sunday count as a day held for DSA mail, who knows ?
Just my thoughts nothing concrete just obvious to me but could be totally wrong
