Royal Mail is investigating after a huge pile of unopened mail was discovered in a recycling bin in Saltley in Birmingham.

The letters were addressed to people living nearby and were from banks, utility companies, and the NHS.

Michael, whose mother found them in her recycling bin, said, "We really didn't know what to do. I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of letters to be honest."

One of the letters is dated as being posted on 27th January.

Royal Mail said in a statement, "The safety and security of the mail is extremely important to us, and we take incidents like this very seriously.

"The local delivery office is investigating and will take appropriate action, including working to address any affected items."

We're not exactly living in the era where you're out till teatime because you're afraid to bring bags back to the unit. Just cut-off.
The machine stops.

Looks like someone's in for the sack if they havnt quit already.. I guess to busy doing all the parcels/tracked and to stressed to bring mail back, maybe a new starter just overwhelmed with the workload.. most days we take pouches full of mail out and just bring it all back, yes the manager has a hissy fit, but he can't really do anything
