Lots of rumours around that they are close....but it seems like 6 into 8 is all RM will accept if they go with the heavy and light version of reform. Seems very similar to 3 into 4 to me but I'm sure it will be spun as a win.
If you do some very basic maths, like divide each number by 2, (the lowest common denominator) then 6 into 8 looks very much like 3 into 4.
The cake is the cake. It's not how it's cut that is the problem. The problem is what the CWU has already agreed - the delivery profile of the traffic. Unless that changes it doesn't matter how many slices of cake there are.

It would be absolutely incredible if after all this the union come out saying 6 into 8 is better than 3 into 4. I’ll put nothing past these con artists running the show though so let’s see what happens this month. Hey maybe Chris Webb could update us via video as we haven’t seen him in a while…….
He’s nicked your union subs :left:
The idea that Webb did that is nonsense. He would do nothing to harm his beloved CWU. What he did do was upset the full time release mob who went out of their way to make sure they took back the power they felt they lost to the Comms department. Its classic British trade unionism bullshit. Work shy charlatans all squabbling over their little empires.

I’m sure ‘Where’s Walshy’ will provide an update soon. Bet when it comes to re-election time he’ll be posting like mad here.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.

Is there ANYBODY who thinks there will be an agreement reached at close of play on Monday?
I’d genuinely be interested to hear.

Was Gingerbread Fred posting in jest? Am I wrong to take the contents of his post more or less at face value?

Expect an extension to the talks.
After all, I can’t imagine there can be any movement until after the commons select committee pantomime

The Comms department has been reorganised. See my reply above.

Possibly yes. The area reps were sent out to tell the members a deal is close. Walsh thinks 7 into 8 is the answer. As usual with the CWU it's not what the agreement will say. Its 6 into 8 as the 7th duty is to be lapsed and then reviewed. Regardless the division is not the issue. The delivery profile that Walsh and the executive have already agreed is the problem. It doesn't work. The minute the traffic is deferred it can't be recovered. Clear offices have ruled for decades because everyone knows that it was no good leaving it until tomorrow.

Couldn’t give a flying bollocks what they choose to do as long as there are finish times and I don’t have to work one minute over it. Mail can sit in frames for a year for all I care, not our problem.

I know your totally correct, but I just get stressed out and get in a panic at the mail just building up, I'm in a utter rush everyday, trays of mail and D2D on the floor, it seems all I have time to do is the damn tracked.

The final sentence of his post indicates that he is anticipating Dave Wards next update to be words to that effect. Possibly a touch tongue in cheek but then many a true word is spoken in jest.

I'm thinking if this stalemate continues the government might have to use their golden share to twist the Czechs arm. If they get a kicking when they appear before parliament later this month they might do something. But on the other hand they might do what the water companies have done i.e. ignore all the fuss, government disapproval etc and carry on assett stripping. The difference here being that the government hold a deciding share in the company. Time will tell.
