As far as the graphs, who do RM Senior Management really think ever look at them as I've never seen another postie ever look at them? If they ever did they probably wouldn't have a clue what they show anyway.
The very comment I was going to make. We had printouts like this up at the SISO desk before the ODM stuff went up. I looked at them a lot. I can tell you I have no f***ing idea what any of it meant. 'Control tower' this and that - none of it bore any relation to anything about delivery that I could perceive, and if it's not for the laïty why even put it on the wall?
Now, I know of some graphs that should be on the wall that would very clearly show what's going on... but
The comment from Gerard Murray underneath the photo is priceless.
"Really proud of the way everyone ... has embraced SQCDPE. The strand leads and COMs have put a huge amount of work into building the cadence and using the boards to drive real actions."
In its own jargon-filled way just those three dozen or so words and acronyms say a huge amount about what's wrong with Royal Mail.
Absolutely spot on. That crowd including Murray were in our office not so long ago. Talk about loving yourself, pranced about the office as if he was best mates with us all. That group are involved in the destruction of a 500 year old company and their proud of it.

That whole robin app is filled with shite like that. Whenever i accidentally scroll on it I feel like I’ve had a stroke and slipped into an alternate reality where things actually work in delivery offices. We all know it’s the exact opposite.
The whole app is just a torrent of happy clappy toxic positivity GO TEAM horseshit from bellend managers looking to climb the corporate ladder.
Managers who like to speak in code and overcomplicate very simple metrics is a big flaw that exists in many large organisations because if people on the shop floor cannot understand them, they stop serving their purpose and become more symbolic rather than practical.
If the aim is to improve performance then the boards should probably show things like: uncovered duties, the overtime needed to clear mail or how much mail is brought back. Those are the figures that would actually tell you whether the operation is working or not.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Probably a graduate straight out of uni fully understands all the graphs, unfortunately that's not the audience who they are aimed at.
More like he'd laugh at the amount of BS and nonsensical info apparently on show.
Graphs and diagrams are supposed to easily convey valid information, not as a way for junior dumb-arse managers to "prove" to their bosses how David Brent they are.

I guarantee you the graphs they'd put up would 'reveal' things like: SISO data versus allocated hours (you're all slacking) and Trends in Allocated Leave in PSP versus leave taken (you're all slacking). They can't even admit duties aren't going out, or if they are that half of it is coming back. Sure, line goes up at Christmas but do you know how much it doesn't come back down afterwards? Will the Parliamentary committe know? Maybe...
Safety quality delivery cost people environment I might have one of those wrong, it’s about picking out big hitters in each and having the most impact with least effort (Pareto charts)
It doesn't really mean anything. It's a shibboleth. It's an empty symbol, hence the unintuitive and unpronouncable acronym - the point is not to convey meaning but to indicate group status. If you have to ask you haven't been inducted into the group. This is a managerial UVB-76: squatting on the airwaves saying nothing except 'I am here'.
