The new way will be a hybrid version of what RM want and what the union want. RM do not like the idea of two people on two duties which is the stumbling block. 3 into 4 is not doable as proved so could it be a case of 4 into 5 duties where the 5th one is lapsed between the 4 postie's which is a slight shift on the 3/4?

I think you could be dead on with this. It still won’t be achievable as duty’s don’t work now but the union will sell it as a win along with some fudged career path to equalisation that takes 3 years to get to and a hundred hoops to jump through.

DRP has been extended until 16th March which I’m sure the CWU are happy about.

So 2 van shares take half another lapsed duty.
Rough estimates.
2 hours to do everything for 1 duty. (Double Mail)
1 hour to do the lapsed duty. (Could maybe rotate that aswell. Half of everything and other half packets/parcels)
Then u've over 1 hour to do packets/parcels/1st mail for 2nd side of van share?
I'd say it would take longer than the numbers i've shown.

Even the system there would prolly be different.
The lapsed duty would be added to ur frame and joined into it.
Assuming theres enough room to add more to ur frame.
Guess thats why they wanted vertical frames just to add more on ppl as needed.

Nothing will be added to your frame Peter, the extra work will come from another frame that already exists.

Initially yeah but at some point a genius planner will appear and have it merged onto your frame to create space for the office with no thought for the postie having to deal with double slots and no space for the parcels.

They need to employ a mathematical teacher, a physicist and a geography teacher. Neither side seem to be able to count, how to plan a route or the effects on the human body.
Id love to know the value to the company of what I was delivering 5 years ago and what I am delivering now.

They add work, reduce the amount of columns, everything double slots. The genius planner, probably a s**t postman who was promoted to manager, failed and rebranded as a planner
