A Royal Mail van was badly damaged in a head-on collision on a country road.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service stated that they were called to the crash on Tuesday afternoon and that they checked on the two drivers, but both had had lucky escapes, sustaining only minor injuries.
The crash occurred yesterday afternoon (Tuesday, January 14) on Ryhall Road near Great Casterton in Rutland. Paramedics were first on the scene and called for a fire crew from Oakham to attend.
A spokesman for the fire service said: "Our crew from Oakham Fire Station attended a road traffic collision on Rye Hall Road in Rutland yesterday, following a call from EMAS colleagues at 13.31pm.
"Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision - one car and one Royal Mail van. Both drivers had self-extricated from their vehicles and received first aid; neither had serious injuries. No other persons were involved.
"The vehicles were made safe and the incident was handed over to police at 2.35pm."
Leicestershire Police also attended the incident, along with Rutland County Council's highways team and recovery specialists from Crouch in Kibworth.
A Rutland police constable said in a social media post: "I attended a head-on collision in Great Casterton where two cars had an unplanned meeting of bumpers.
"Thankfully, both occupants were checked over by our amazing colleagues at Leicestershire Fire and are doing well.
"A huge shout-out to Leicestershire Fire and Rescue, Rutland Highways and Crouch Recovery for the fantastic teamwork that kept everything running smoothly."
