MP urges regulator to tackle Royal Mail delivery delays across Lichfield

Dave Robertson wrote to Ofcom after receiving more than 150 complaints from local residents.

The Labour MP said issues raised included missed and delayed deliveries.

In his letter, he said:

“I am deeply concerned about the unacceptable standard of local postal services delivered by Royal Mail.

“Some residents report going weeks without a single letter. This is not just inconvenient – it’s causing serious problems during the Christmas period, with even NHS appointment letters arriving after the appointment date.

“Despite writing on behalf of a number of constituents, I am still waiting to heart back. In some cases, emails sent in August were not replied to until November. This lack of timely communication is as worrying as the service failures themselves.

“What action will Ofcom take to ensure Royal Mail meets its obligations and restores reliable postal services in our area? Clear information on monitoring, enforcement and regulatory mechanisms would help reassure residents that this issue is being taken seriously.”

It comes after Royal Mail listed WS7, WS13 and WS14 postcodes as among the worst hit areas of the country for postal delays.

A spokesperson said:

“We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week. In a small number of local offices, this may temporarily not be possible due to local issues. In those cases, we will rotate deliveries to minimise the delay to individual customers.

“We also provide targeted support to those offices to address their challenges and restore our service to the high standard our customers would normally receive.”

I think Ofcom should fine every single manager a years wages.
Maybe then they will take some responsibility for this shitshow.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
