Who actually forced you to go on strike.think that would be illegal.postmanplod2025 wrote: ↑07 Nov 2025, 18:56the union only fight for their own interests never the paying members that was illustrated when they forced us all on strike pretending to strike for posties conditions when, what we were really striking for, was to save area reps from being removed from their positions. Once the company and union sorted that out, the posties got completely shat on and forever will, weakest self serving union ever. If u think the union are fighting for equalising terms and conditions for u new starters ur as gullable as ..., if royal mail decided to up new starters terms and conditions it will have nothing to do with the union but they will take the credit for it as they usually do blowing their own trumpets, reality is union is compeltely powerless

sean u must be a rep of some sort, the union convinced us postman to go on strike sold us out so area reps could keep their jobs, everything else got shoved through on the posties, not getting paid for sick days disgrace, end of the day the union should be decreasing what members pay each month not increasing for their pitful performances

I’m guessing so yes? Speak with your rep I would, but as far as I’m aware all new contracts have been given a pay increaseNewpoet wrote: ↑08 Nov 2025, 06:50Even if you only started 4 weeks ago?

Not sure the legacy contract are £15 an hour.
I thought they were around the £14 mark but could be wrong though.
Either way the new contract is a joke even on £14 an hour the delivery staff are being shafted for a job that has become increasingly physical and no sign of easing.
The union really should be addressing the physical demands on the staff on delivery, especially as it’s an ageing workforce and no allowance is being made for this .

To my calculations old contracts are on £15.05 and hour once you include the D2D supplementenzio1272 wrote: ↑09 Nov 2025, 11:45Not sure the legacy contract are £15 an hour.

It's even higher when you start factoring in paid breaks but I cannot really be bothered to work that out right now. And yes I think that rate is about as low as what's acceptable accounting for the job physicality and long term damage that can be done due to that.

Interestingly our hourly rate in 2012 was £10.10, which in todays money is £14.61 BUT we were on a 39 hour week back then so per week our basic was £393.72 which would be £569.47 today, compared to our £556.93.

Re: Minimum wage to rise
Yep you're right just worked it out, Inc delivery supplement it's £15.05 ph for 37 hrs but as you say we only have to provide just under 34 hours of work for that so it's actually about £16.38 for a flat 37 hour week, unfortunately if you do overtime then that figure gets watered down quickly due to the crap overtime rates that are below regular pay.funkflex55 wrote: ↑09 Nov 2025, 12:02To my calculations old contracts are on £15.05 and hour once you include the D2D supplementenzio1272 wrote: ↑09 Nov 2025, 11:45Not sure the legacy contract are £15 an hour.

It’s not bad pay on legacy by any stretch, a year in April it will be over 30k basic.

Re: Minimum wage to rise
Imo it’s a very fair rate of pay.
I’d be over the moon if my contract was equalised to a legacy contract and would happily put up with the s**t that comes with the job but equalisation will never happen.

Re: Minimum wage to rise
It's still no better than what we were on back in 2020 allowing for inflation.
Yet enery costs, supermarket costs, housing costs have all sky rocketed in that time. So we're all materially worse off.
Don't see how this is a win.

Re: Minimum wage to rise
The time to do it would have been while the last IA was ongoing in December 2022, though I know that legally it couldn't be appended to the dispute in situ. Was it included when we reballoted in early 2023?
The machine stops.
