Royal mail have done this to themselves, self inflicted, by running the business into the ground, asset stripping, and forcing impossible work loads on its posties.. in pursuit of profit..

Now,, every one has left, there no one left in delivery to deliver the post..
What profits? Assuming RM make some profits from the parcel deliveries/PF then the mail side of the business must run at a big loss?
Not sure of the "profits" before privatisation, but we were a slick operation, surviving on govt subsidies, and delivering every single item, every single day, with a workforce who were respected and content in their jobs. :cuppa

How can RM lose money on letters when it takes payment for delivering them but doesn't provide the stated service? If anything they've upped the margins on letters by defrauding customers, which is what this fine (like all the previous ones) is attempting to discourage.
The machine stops.

Another fine so more bullying from managers chasing bonuses on unachievable targets. Nothing ever changes with this firm.

What really done the damage was when RM was forced to bring in DSA. Up until then the Mailsort 1, 2 & 3 helped to subside stamped mail and letters in general.
