Re: Pilot offices
Do you seriously believe the CWU & RM are now sat around a table discussing equalisation after they issued this LTB, since which there's been total silence from the union?

Re: Pilot offices
Yeah, we've got the stupid wrapping on all the frames now but unless it somehow gets forced through by the end of this month it cannot happen this year. The nutjob in charge of implementing it might be demented enough to try, though. Peak 2025 would be a write-off in that case and RM have demonstrated willingness to do that before if it suits them (ie, the last strikes).
Of course. This is the test that's been in the works ever since the climbdown of 2023. The CWU boxed itself into this corner and knows there's little appetite for another dispute. People would rather quit in the face of the inevitable final destruction of the job and they have done so in volume. All that remains is for the company to call their bluff and deliver the killing blow. The union are praying for a governmental deus ex machina, hence the sabre rattling at the TUC to disaffiliate with the Labour party.
The machine stops.

Re: Pilot offices
All are frames have now been colour coded and the proposed staffing/vehicle ODM plans apparently signed off by senior management and so we're just waiting for the go ahead to proceed.
I can't really see the company now waiting until, after peak, February(?), which is nearly 6 months/half a year away to start making staff savings etc.
I wouldn't be surprised if next Monday's "plans for the next 5 years" presentation states that the company can't wait any longer and further DO's will move to the ODM model during October.

The ODM is dead. Any new version has to be voted on by members before being implemented.TopperGas wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025, 20:32All are frames have now been colour coded and the proposed staffing/vehicle ODM plans apparently signed off by senior management and so we're just waiting for the go ahead to proceed.

Re: Pilot offices
The union says the ODM is dead, not the business. Tony Bouch even said in the last live video 2 weeks ago that Royal Mail are still talking about the ODM whilst the union are proposing their model “heavy and light”Barnacle wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025, 20:34The ODM is dead. I honestly think the union have jumped the gun on Royal Mail seriously considering another model to the ODM, it would explain the weeks of silence on the uso and other issues like levelling up new entrants. From the outside looking in it seems they are in disagreement.
Time will tell I suppose. Surely we will find out more next week after royal mails big future plan live video thingy on Monday 22nd.

Re: Pilot offices
It'll be interesting to see if that presentation mentions ODM etc or just talks generally about the direction RM wants to go in the next 5 years, I wonder if the CWU will do their bi-weekly update this week or wait until after the presentation?toonshola wrote: ↑16 Sep 2025, 21:03The union says the ODM is dead, not the business. Re: Pilot offices
From what I can gather from the updates produced by the union, the 35 sites that went live are still using the pilot method despite it clearly not working, despite it being abandoned as a way forward.
None of the pilot offices have been returned to normal working.

Re: Pilot offices
True but then haven't they all had lots of deliveries put back in, especially Stockton !!! So, the deliveries should now be much smaller which will make them more achievable. Their system could work but not with the size of duties most offices haveFrom what I can gather from the updates produced by the union, the 35 sites that went live are still using the pilot method despite it clearly not working, despite it being abandoned as a way forward.

Re: Pilot offices
50 at Stockton. Which proves that the model doesn’t work. It costs more than the status quo.oypostie wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025, 21:48True but then haven't they all had lots of deliveries put back in, especially Stockton !!! Re: Pilot offices
It really annoys me the size of the duties in that the CWU will not even mention the subject.
This has been an issue for years.

Re: Pilot offices
i've not seen anything by RM to suggest anything has been abandoned, the fact they've still got a team(s) travelling around the country marking up frames suggests the opposite is the case?Barnacle wrote: ↑02 Oct 2025, 19:49From what I can gather from the updates produced by the union, the 35 sites that went live are still using the pilot method despite it clearly not working, despite it being abandoned as a way forward.

Re: Pilot offices
From what I heard - the trials continue, allegedly with fully staffed offices....
Imagine doing trials without the correct number of staff....which is what they did for months.

Re: Pilot offices
I'd be surprised if all the pilot offices are fully staffed as we're having problems recruiting and retaining staff in our non pilot office.

Re: Pilot offices
The retentions dept must be getting completely hammered, or extra extra bonus cheques! Lol
Because either way, Royal Mail ahem CWU is winning.
The sheer numbers of OPGs leaving is testament to the state of it.
