So the other day we had a huddle. They said please everyone tell us if your leaving some mail behind so we can report it back on the system. I have feeling they are making it up and fobbing us off

I cover the CSP (callers locker) when the old PHG is off on annual leave. We put the amount of failures and how many walks failed through on a daily basis on the route report . This is assuming the person putting through the report isn't being "influenced" by the manager.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Royal Mail reporting is to be done by the Delivery Office COM on daily basis , this can be open to abuse obviously as questions will be asked by those above
With the new USO changes there is now a question daily on report to ask has ALL First class mail been delivered, often just ticked as Done when it is obvious walks have failed and not being cleared. Also a daily question asking have ALL NHS letters been delivered.
With office clearance linked to COMs bonus structures there is incentives to report incorrectly.

Well I can 100% confirm if a walk fails in our office there is no removal of any 1c or NHS letters for delivery whatsoever so ours must be ticking the yes box.CharlesG wrote: ↑12 Sep 2025, 13:29Royal Mail reporting is to be done by the Delivery Office COM on daily basis , this can be open to abuse obviously as questions will be asked by those above

We used to separate them but they just reappeared the next day so I don't think anyone bothers now.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Papering over the cracks, much?
We've never been asked to clear NHS letters, though given long-standing relationships with customers most of us will expedite one if we know about it. Management have had a hardon for clearing 1C all this year, though adherance to that instruction runs the gamut from ignoring them completely, taking them out and bringing them back wilfully or not, to actually delivering them.
Frankly, everyone knows with our stupid hours that if it's between clearing the 1C and signing out on time, you'll be at that desk on the dot regardless.
The machine stops.

I was told by a newer manager that they had to report the loops that had failed for each round.... yet none of the other managers had ever asked for the loops/road names when mail was brought back..... so this suggests to me they report things incorrectly.

Brilliant piece of management there. They used to hand out 2 year serious' liberally for bringing back a single letter without endorsement back in the day, remember willful delay anyone?clashcityrocker wrote: ↑12 Sep 2025, 16:07We used to separate them but they just reappeared the next day so I don't think anyone bothers now.
What an utter clown show of an organisation lol.
Shambles of a management structure with an even worse union support for the workers.

What they normally do, differs from office to office no doubt, is get you to prep and take out everything so it's a clear-ish office, then obviously later you bring some of it back.

They make you take out stuff they know full well won't be delivered. Then they lie on the reporting as they claim walks are cleared. Then RM cuts the office hours as the work is getting completed. This has been going on for years. Each manager screwing their successors a little bit harder.

Or tell you not to prep a round so they don't have to report it as failed? Given how grim the figures are RM releases every quarter, then you do wonder how bad they would be if the figures were genuine.

They risk a round still being reported as failed if there's any test letters (ones with RFID tags) in them.

I remember a discussion with collections years ago, when they actually admitted half the RIFD’s didn’t work properly.I don’t imagine RM’s suddenly upped its game since. It used to the case that customers who had complained previously were given letters to post which were tracked through the system.
But realistically since COVID and today’s staffing shortages any reports are just likely to be lip service to those above.
NB If the mails not in the frame it’s a Workplan Failure not a Walk Failure.

We had a letter addressed to a collection manager arrive in the office a few weeks ago with an AirTag in it.
