Just wondering how the sick pay works. I’m about to go into my second week off sick in my second absence in 12 months due to requiring an operation. Is it just the first 2 days of the absence I receive ssp or is it 2 days ssp on every week I’m off on the second absence? Thanks

Isn't it now 12 days, not 14 before you are put.on a stage 1? if so I take it, it includes Sundays still.

Had double hernia surgery last thursday. Been off one week now, and my wage is £200 when typically its around £430

Had a day off in Jan, and a few weeks off last october for a fall on delivery. When do our days work of pay actually begin in the week, does it sound like im short? i thought it was 2 days no pay

Get in touch with your area rep and it should be sorted out almost instantly if the are worth their salt.

So looks like you've fallen foul of the 3rd absence rule it's f***ing s**t isn't it, apparently the sick arrangements are supposed to be part of the talks CWU are going to be discussing.

yeah i had one day off in january with a headcold, then last october i had a fall on delivery carrying a massive parcel across the road, busting my elbow. Horrible twats. Before this year my record was impeccable

The next kick in the teeth is going to be you'll be awarded a next stage I'm assuming you're going to need a few weeks off after a hernia op, as you say twats.

Oh yeah I thought accidents at work were supposed to be exempt from being penalised, wonder if there's any chance of getting your deduction of sick pay reinstated due to that previous absence.

It will count from the first day of your first absence, the 12 month clock ticks from then.

RM sick pay is still very good, especially compared to a lot of companies that will just out right pay SSP.

RM sick pay is still very good, especially compared to a lot of companies that will just out right pay SSP.

It is but the timelines now are too long for coming off a stage, meaning honest people ending up on a stage 3 for not much time off.
12 month is far too long a period to wait, you could sprain your ankle in January then have a bad virus in December that puts you out of action for a couple of weeks and your on a stage 2.
