No thanks i LOVE the NHS! People who work for us and not cash or another way of letting the goverment get out of their responsibilitys of looking after OUR health that we already pay for! After the pay cuts and price increases on ALL things that we need to live, paying for health care that we already pay for seems like pure FOLLY and another excuse for Brown and Co to down grade our NHS and the terms and conditions that those SERVICE workers have at the momment so they can give it to bankers and either rip off the NHS or pay crap wages because we are willing to pay extra for someone else to do it instead of demanding that WE receive the care we pay for!

For sure but with our NHS being attacked and privatised at an alarming rate i cant in all good conscience see myself ever using the private sector. Although i was heartened to see some of the good work they have done for our kind in the past but find i must look to the future and i realy feel that its one of those use it or lose it things and if the private sector were looking after our health with the if you cant afford it you die attitude that they have we MUST look after our NHS first second and last.

I too, think that the NHS must be supported. However, it has so few resources nowadays, that there are huge waiting lists for treatment. There are Posties risking their Jobs, because they are taking Sick Leave. Not because they are malingerers (as RM claim ), but because they are having to wait so long for treatment.

Unless something is done about the lack of resources in the NHS, Private Healthcare will remain a neccessary evil. Personally, I can't afford Private Healthcare, and the Benenden Hospital wouldn't be of much use to me, as they can't help with Mental Health problems. Which is unfortunately, one of my more pressing problems at the moment.

Or you could reason that as long as private healthcare exists the NHS will never be properly funded or managed. How long do you think Mr Brown would be willing to q for in A+E or the likes of Mr. Leighton be prepared to wait for vital surgery?

I haven't got Private Healthcare, as I can't afford it. But if I could, then it would be a difficult decision. On the one hand, it would protect my Job. On the other, it would play into the hands of the Government.

At least now, I understand why I got such a bad reaction, when I suggested that RM should provide Private Healthcare (in another Thread), instead of wasting money on those ATOS Puppets. It had never occured to me, that it could have such a detrimental effect, on the already heavily hit NHS.

It's not tricky really is it? Either as human beings we are all deserving of equal healthcare when required , or those with more pound notes are somehow more deserving of care attention and assistance.

The problem though, is how do we get the NHS properly funded, so that they don't have people on rediculously long waiting lists?
Successive Governments have consistently reduced the capacity of the NHS, while the Population has grown.

Organisations such as The Benenden Hospital and BUPA, were set up to get people the help they needed when they needed it. Rather than Months, or even Years later.

I have needed the help of the NHS several times over the last Decade, and once you are finally seen, the Treatment they provide is still excellent. But the problem still remains, that there aren't enough Hospitals, and Wards to cope with the demand.

So far, I haven't come across ANY Political Party, which has a solution to this problem. So what do we do?

Two things to get you started :
Sack the fat cat administrators on their fat cat salaries,with no £150k pay offs.(they obviously have'nt done the business)

Then nationalise the drugs companies that are bleeding the public purse dry with their over inflated charges that support their mega profits,shareholder gravytrain and directors massive bonuses.

That would free up lots of cash. The solution is not difficult ,getting people elected with the political will is. They seem to be able to manage to find £billions week after week to prop up the privately owned banks, British and foreign ( all banks "registered in the UK" get the handouts) even though they are still making massive profits. Now they intend to underwrite with public funds all the banks new mortgage business.

You can't have a pay rise because that would be inflationary,yet the rich and powerful have been dished out countless billions from the public purse week in week out, and every pound of that will push up inflation and in effect is a further paycut for all of us who don't get the freebies.

Well it would help if the "new labour govenment" did not give £ 50 billion to private bank's! FOR THEY HAD THE MONNEY ALL ALONG BUT NOT THE ACUMEN TO USE IT WISELY!.

Have a read people,as i said they are very good and well worth the £1.25p a week and were set up for postal workers from the start.
