A Swindon mail centre manager has won a national award for outstanding leadership.

Rashid Choudhary, who manages the Swindon Mail Centre, received the Rising Star title at Royal Mail’s inaugural Heart of Royal Mail Awards following a nomination from colleagues.

Mr Choudhary said: "It feels great – I’m absolutely buzzing about it.

"To be fair, I was a bit nervous when I came across this morning.

"But when I saw my name appeared up there – I was really buzzing and feel very proud and privileged to receive this award."

The Rising Star Award recognises Mr Choudhary’s collaborative management style and commitment to developing others.

He was praised for driving performance across the region, mentoring colleagues, championing apprenticeships and modelling inclusive, values-led leadership.

He was one of six finalists in his category, with the winner selected by Sarah Roche, Royal Mail’s talent director.

The Heart of Royal Mail Awards is a company-wide recognition scheme celebrating employees who demonstrate dedication, innovation and a positive impact on the business and communities.

Launched in July 2024, the scheme received more than 7,500 nominations from across the UK.

All 130,000 Royal Mail employees are eligible for nomination, with categories spanning leadership, teamwork and customer service.

Mr Choudhary was nominated by colleagues.
