It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I've been here a year and for most of that year even 1st class gets left in most of the time and on weekdays not just Saturday, so what's the big fuss all of a sudden

The big fuss is, now one man owns the business, nothing other than 'Tracked' matters, zero profit with zero proof. EVERYTHING must be tracked now.

Because it wasn't official so most of the general public didn't know about it

There's a very slow but noticeable increase in the amount of Tracked in the manual letters and flats that we get through from other MCs.

Yeah I've noticed that, a lot of moonpig cards are now coming in tracked.. it's a pain on a Sunday when I'm supposed to be doing oversize parcels they throw in loads of tracked cards as well

But but... Ofcom conducted thorough research into the deepest desires of the public to do this!
The machine stops.

Well wait till those who find it unacceptable find out its not just Saturdays they arent getting 2nd class post but that they are only going to get it 5 days every 2 weeks

Why are the media outlets concentrating on just the Saturday? Or rather why are Royal Mail briefing them this.
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

But, but customers also wanted collection offices closed most of the time.
I cannot believe RM are telling porkies, it would be a 1st, no 2nd…no 732 time!!

Exactly what I was saying in the office today. Meanwhile out on the round customers were also commenting on the “no 2nd class mail on a Saturday” thing. I explained that it simply wasn’t correct and had been PR’d out in such a way to make people believe that it’s only Saturdays that are affected.

I'm a postman, still on delivery. Started 1999.
The last " I didn't know you delivered Saturdays" was about two years ago.

My most memorable is covering A/L for the regular postman, and a chap complaining that my 07:30 delivery was much later than the other guy...

Had this exact chat with a guy that brought up "No 2nd class on Saturday" today and when I explained you get 2nd class 12 days out of 14 but now you will get 5 days out of 14 he didn't believe it :arrrghhh

This is just the beginning of cuts to the USO. The World is going Digital in a few years time there will be more cuts. Look at Denmark they are getting rid of all delivery of letters at the end of this year. The UK won’t be far behind.
