Might as well list any other store that delivers their own products if they want to cite Amazon as competitors.

The problem for us is during that time competitors like Amazon, DPD and Evri have appeared, no doubt paying their staff even less wages.

Amazon doesn’t have many drivers of their own — they mostly hire subcontractors (usually foreign owners, e.g., from Romania), who exploit the drivers.
This setup benefits Amazon: zero-hour contracts, and in case of any issues, they wash their hands of responsibility. Yet through their IT system, they still have full control over the parcels.

I worked for an Amazon subcontractor, and while the daily rates aren’t low (currently around £164 per day for 7–10 hours), there are a few nuances.

They deduct van rental costs from your pay (around £210 per week), which is why I saved up and bought my own van. It paid for itself after a year.

They don’t pay taxes or social contributions, but with a good accountant, you can end up paying very little tax.

Fines — you can rack up a lot of them.

In case of a slow period, you can work just three days a week.

Personally for me, an absolute minimum of 5%, please don’t tell me we are lucky to get 4.2%, if that’s the case why couldn’t they of given us the other 0.8% and round it up to 5

I would of been happy with 6%, I think thats a fair amount, with 3.5% for year 2 and 3.5% for year 3
